Conversations with Danny Olson

Today we’d like to introduce you to Danny Olson.

Hi Danny, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstories.
My story started when I was little. I loved music and performing from a very early age. I performed in my first musical at age 7 and got my first trumpet at age 10.

From there, I knew I wanted to be a performer. I loved DJing, making music, and film scores, and eventually studied film composition in college. After figuring out I wanted to move to Los Angeles to pursue music as my career, I set a goal to head west immediately after college.

The month I graduated undergrad, I moved to LA with barely 6 weeks of rent saved up.

11 years later, I’m still here – making music full time and putting as much energy as I can into my craft.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Absolutely not! It can still be a struggle at times.

From the financial aspect of making a living off of music to building a fanbase, convincing others in the industry that you’re more than just a TikTok trend, and fighting the inner creative battles, it can be quite challenging.

I am always learning lessons and trying to become a better version of myself along the way, though.

And once I shift my perspective or remind myself to try and shift my perspective in challenging times, things can be easier.

Loving the journey is one of the most important things I’ve learned along the way. And patience… having patience!

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a composer and music producer that specializes in blending cinematic and electronic music.

Instead of being perceived as a DJ who makes EDM, I view myself as an all-around storyteller. Emotion and passion are stapes in my music, and I always strive to convey a larger-than-life experience with my sound, live performances, and brand.

I am known as the ‘cinematic bass’ guy within the EDM space, but I also write a lot of trailer music, music for sports teams, and film scores as well.

I am most proud of my ability to challenge and hold myself to a higher standard – always striving to put out the best possible product I can at any given time.
