Conversations with Danny Escalante

Today we’d like to introduce you to Danny Escalante.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Appreciate y’all taking the time to review my story! My name is Danny Escalante aka Escaliente. Im born and raised in LA, South Central LA till the day I die 💙

Where I currently find myself in the world, is entertainment backed by a hospitality and creative background. My day job for the most part has always been serving. However, as of the past two years I’ve been DJing throughout the city. It’s truly been a huge blur, but a great blur as I’ve had so many amazing opportunities within a short amount of time. Where you can find me monthly will be at one of the largest Latino owned parties by I Love Micheladas – First Fridays. Roughly 3,000 people come out every first Friday of the month to enjoy live music and a curated DJ lineup. I’ve been extremely blessed to be a part of their team for 2 years now. Shoutout the Jacuzzi Water, Que Madre and Lopez family.

Through such opportunities and connections, I’ve also started producing my own events. Named Cuatro por Cuatro, I specialize in creating a yearly concert that focuses on production and curated live performances showcasing regional Latin sounds of LA. While it is Mexican Regional genres-forward, I have started to incorporate other elements that can showcase all Latin genres. Whatever one comes across in LA!

My next show will be May 10, 2025 at Ditroit Taquería in the Arts District LA. Extremely excited to be collaborating with a restaurant by Michelin star chef Enrique Olvera and in particular the team that runs his restaurant Damian. The night concert will feature live bands, DJs, food by Ditroit and dancing horses to accompany some of our bands.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Absolutely not haha Life is not a one way road, we all know this. I’ve had to sacrifice a lot of my own personal stability to be where I am now. Mental health has probably been the biggest hurdle as I had to prioritize something completely unfamiliar and realize that I needed external help.

I’m grateful to have experienced and continue experience the obstacles life throws at me. We can all overcome challenges.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I touched on this in my previous response discussing Cuatro por Cuatro; what I’m most proud of is that I’ve solely created a concert series representative of myself and my background.

Where I currently find myself, wouldn’t be possible without my previous and current career(s) and cultural background. I think it’s a great accomplishment to simply have the ability to express myself creatively and professionally through a curated concert.

The passion for music extends beyond the live music itself. It’s truly about providing a complete and individualistic experience for Los Angeles.

Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
This list is extremely long! In short, my parents, my teachers and professors who helped me push myself creatively and last but not least friends.

I have so many I can list but to be honest this list goes back to probably middle school and is continuously being added to. I am beyond grateful to have people that truly hype me up, check in on me and ultimately root for my success. I will never take that for granted.
