Today we’d like to introduce you to Christine Mai Nguyen.
Hi Christine, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I’m a hobbyist living in Los Angeles, CA with a wide range of interests from Beauty, to Ceramics, to music. I use new media such as Instagram and YouTube to document and share my hobbies with the world. I’ve been active on YouTube for 14 years and have been fully freelance since 2017 doing such things as DJing vinyl at bars and events, demoing product knowledge videos, creative direction, photography, and ceramics as my “job”.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
It hasn’t always been a smooth road, but because I’ve always been curious and interested in multiple things, it’s always been easy to lean on another hobby while the other suffers. Monetarily, it’s been a steady growth and I don’t find myself struggling because I find a lot of fulfillment in what I do.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
At the moment, I’m the most proud of my ceramics. It’s brought a lot of joy to me and to the people who have supported me along the way. I’ve always been a fan of ceramics and now that I make things, I appreciate it on a totally different level.
I think the thing that sets me apart of others is that much of the things I make are tchotchkes. Not many bowls and cups though I would love to develop that skill set.
What matters most to you?
Fulfillment matters to me the most — everything that brings me income I’ve done for my own fulfillment for a long time. If it starts out as a hobby, then it will remain a hobby until I no longer enjoy it. That way, I know that if I were to fail monetarily, I would still be doing what I love.
