Conversations with Celeste Gomez

Today we’d like to introduce you to Celeste Gomez

Hi Celeste, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I started writing seriously at the age of 9 when I attended a writer’s camp in Long Beach, CA. I knew I wanted to do something with writing as a career. I found my voice through poetry. I was taking courses in my Creative Writing Major and fell in love with the genre. I began writing my own and selling my poems in frames to now a book and now my first own poetry tour happening in 2025!

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It has been a struggle from all aspects of it, but it is also what keeps me motivated. Being an Author and Poet isn’t easy because we don’t get paid as much as we deserve. It takes a lot of work to get to that level and it’s a reminder that I’m working towards my dream. Writing can be especially hard when life hits you with financial or emotional hiccups.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m an Author and Poet. I’m known for the poetry collection, Besos. It discusses the journey of womanhood, navigating grief and toxic relationships through the Latine experience. What makes me proud of myself so far is how far I’ve come with Besos and now that I’m on tour is a blessing! I think what sets me apart is how I strategize my plan for what I want to do with my poetry. I’m particular about each creative and marketing move I make.

Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
Remembering to believe in yourself is the most important lesson I remember daily because it’s easy for me to fall into thinking I’m not good enough or asking why I am here. When I deserve to be at the table just like everyone else. I remind myself to believe in myself because it drives my hard work.
