Today we’d like to introduce you to Catherine H. Fisher.
Hi Catherine H., so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I’ve always been a curious and imaginative person, even as a child. Growing up as an only child, I often created stories to entertain myself. Whether I was playing pretend with the neighbors, reading, or watching TV, storytelling was always a big part of my life. My mom raised me on her own, and there were times when I’d go to work with her. During those moments, I’d quietly create little worlds and stories using my toys.
This creative spark carried into my love for dance and acting. One of my earliest memories of being creative was taking dance classes at my local recreation center. That love for the arts grew quickly—I was always seeking the next opportunity to express myself, from small-town plays and dance recitals to county productions. Over time, my passion led me to pursue a career in the film and television industry in Los Angeles.
Whether on stage in a school play, performing a dance routine, or now behind the camera, storytelling has been a constant in my life. It’s what fuels my creativity and inspires me to keep growing in my craft.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road, but I’d still consider myself blessed. My mom probably faced the biggest challenges raising me on her own. When I discovered my passion for the arts—a passion that wasn’t exactly affordable—it added a layer of difficulty. As a kid, I knew it was a financial strain for her, but I didn’t fully understand the extent of her sacrifices until I became an adult. Now, I have an even deeper appreciation for everything she did to help me chase my dreams.
Another significant challenge was navigating the transitions in my journey. After graduating high school, I expected to jump straight into the film industry because things were going so well at the time. But life had other plans. I felt called to take a break and travel, which was a tough decision. Then the pandemic hit, followed by a period where I had to rebuild my footing. Just as I was finding my stride, the SAG strikes occurred, which added yet another layer of difficulty to getting back into the industry as an adult.
Despite the setbacks, these experiences have taught me resilience and reminded me why I push so hard for what I love. Even though my mom isn’t as involved in my journey now as she was when I was younger, I’m incredibly grateful to have her, along with my family and friends, as a strong support system.
In addition to pursuing acting, I’ve expanded into photography and videography. These creative outlets have allowed me to keep storytelling alive, even during times when I can’t be directly involved in projects. They’ve given me a way to continue creating and expressing myself, no matter the circumstances.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a SAG-AFTRA actor and dancer, and my most recognizable work was a co-star role in Young Sheldon for one episode. I’m also a member of the Choreographers Guild and run my own photography and videography business, Likewise Lens. Across all these areas, I specialize in creative storytelling, bringing authenticity and compassion to everything I do.
However, what I’m most proud of is prioritizing generosity in my work and life. Through my business, I dedicate 10% of my earnings to local non-profits. For me, it’s not just about achieving personal success—none of this would mean anything without giving back to God, who made it all possible. That often means focusing on supporting local community issues and finding ways to use my work to make a positive impact.
What sets me apart is my commitment to storytelling with purpose. Whether it’s through acting, dance, photography, or videography, I strive to create work that feels genuine and meaningful. At the heart of everything I do is the desire to connect, uplift, and give back
Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
To be honest, I’ve been fortunate to have very few naysayers in my journey, despite what people often say about how tough the creative path can be. I’ve been blessed with a community that constantly said, “Yes, you can!” to whatever creative facet I decided to explore. I realize, though, that not everyone has that kind of support.
So, if you’re looking for that extra voice in your corner saying, “Yes, you can,” here it is: Yes, you can.
The beauty of the arts is that no matter how hard anyone tries, they can’t perfectly duplicate your talent, passion, or creativity. You are uniquely you, and that’s exactly what the world needs. We need you. We need your story. Comparison is a thief of joy and progress—don’t let it hold you back. There is room for you. There is space for you to grow, to create, and to shine.
