Conversations with Cait Alexander

Today, we’d like to introduce you to Cait Alexander.

Cait Alexander

Hi Cait, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
It began in Canada, catapulted me across the planet, now settling very happily in Los Angeles.

I’m very grateful to have been connected to so many incredible people in the entertainment industries: fashion, filmmaking, and music, who have inspired me, gifted me graciously with a career I love, and said yes to my bold ideas.

After my attempted murder by my ex-partner in Toronto in 2021 and barely surviving the injustice system in Canada, wherein they threw away the case because they “ran out of time,” I knew I had to change the system. I didn’t expect to become an advocate, but here we are, all cards on the table, the blood on the hands of my abuser & a system that let him walk. I’ve founded EVE- End Violence Everywhere and intend to do just that.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Healing from attempted murder and the injustices of the Canadian legal system have been the most challenging.

Feeling helpless and being lied to by the people who are supposed to protect you during judicial proceedings, being disconnected from a process that impacts your life and the lives of others, creates a cognitive dissonance that is hard to describe. Especially when you have your attempted murder on video and the prosecutors are telling you they believe you but “don’t have time” to handle your case.

I’ve felt like I’ve failed so often, but I realized I am facing insidious laws and a system that favors the accused. Then there was the SAG-AFTRA strike in 2023, coupled with the reminisce of COVID… The last three years have been the most challenging of my life on a personal and professional level.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. What can you tell our readers who might not be as familiar with your work?
Aside from a plethora of credits with some incredible shows, both globally known and independent, my work now encompasses healing, creation, business and advocacy. The skills Ive cultivated in the entertainment industry have led me to helping establish moderate success in changing the conversation about intimate partner violence.

My work on the day to day consists of having impactful meetings, creating initiatives and programs, Cochairing an upcoming charity Gala at the Four Seasons in Toronto and launching End Violence Everywhere EVE at Canada’s House in LA in the Fall. This is in addition to auditions, filming, media interviews and shooting. We’re also shooting a documentary.

One email, one phone call, one meeting at a time we are connecting people who wouldn’t otherwise been able to communicate and are making sincere positive change in the world. I am extremely proud of each and every single person I have had the pleasure of working with. This is only the beginning.

If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
Never say die attitude, dedication, being ORGANIZED, gentle with yourself, respectful, gracious, willing to learn and knowing when to rest.

As my friend Jesse John Garcia says: “you took the hit so others won’t have to suffer. Don’t tell me ‘no’ tell me ‘how’ to change it.”

It’s about being relentless AND, most importantly:

Kind.
