Conversations with Burcu Levent

Today we’d like to introduce you to Burcu Levent

Hi BURCU, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I have been in the advertising and marketing industry for 15 years, with a degree in Visual Communication Design. After graduating, I worked at several major advertising worldwide agencies, including Leo Burnett, Grey, Alice BBDO….gaining extensive experience in brand marketing and creative strategy.

Throughout my career, I have worked on numerous projects, offering 360-degree advertising solutions that encompass everything from brand strategy, creative direction, and digital media communication to visual storytelling and marketing campaigns. My passion for creating, innovating, and transforming ideas into impactful brand experiences has been the driving force behind my work.

Later, I founded UBRA, my own advertising agency, and eventually moved abroad. Despite living overseas, I continue to manage my agency in Turkey, frequently traveling back and forth to maintain and expand our operations.

UBRA agency, which holds deep meaning for me. It’s a family-driven project that I run together with my brother, built on the values of trust, dedication, and creativity.

For us, an agency should feel like a family, and that’s exactly how we treat every brand we work with. We see them as part of our own and dedicate our passion, creativity, and energy to their success. The name UBRA itself comes from our family, formed from the initials of my mother, father, brother, and myself.

While UBRA operates actively in Turkey, we also provide consulting services internationally, including in Los Angeles. Establishing this agency was a dream come true, allowing me to bring ideas to life and collaborate with brands on a global scale.

For me, advertising is not just a profession—it is a passion that allows me to bring ideas to life and make an impact through visual communication.

My passion for visual storytelling and brand identity has driven me to collaborate with various brands, helping them create impactful campaigns.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road—but I believe challenges are what shape us.

Starting my career in major advertising agencies was a great learning experience, but it also came with intense competition, long hours, and high expectations. When I decided to start my own agency, UBRA, the transition from working within established structures to building something from scratch was a major challenge. Establishing a brand, gaining trust, and proving ourselves in a highly competitive industry required persistence, adaptability, and continuous innovation.

Moving abroad added another layer of complexity. Managing an agency remotely while maintaining strong relationships with clients in Turkey and internationally has been demanding. Constantly traveling between countries, balancing different time zones, and ensuring seamless communication with my team required strong discipline and strategic planning.

Despite these struggles, my passion for creativity and brand storytelling has kept me going. Every challenge has taught me something valuable, pushing me to grow both personally and professionally.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I have a well-established career path in Turkey, where I remain highly active in the advertising and marketing industry. At the same time, I also support visual communication projects for Turkish entrepreneurs and businesses abroad.

While I have experience working with large brands, my primary focus is on consulting for startups. I am passionate about building brand stories from scratch, helping businesses develop a strong visual identity, and transforming them into franchise-ready projects.

For me, the key is not just creating a brand but making it visually distinctive and strategically sustainable, ensuring that it stands out in a competitive market.

At UBRA, our mission is to provide strategic and creative solutions that help brands build strong identities, stand out visually, and grow sustainably. While we have worked with large brands, our primary focus is on startups and emerging businesses, guiding them from the ground up to create franchise-ready projects.

I specialize in visual communication, branding, and marketing strategy, ensuring that every brand we work with has a unique and impactful presence. My goal is to transform ideas into compelling brand stories, making them not only recognizable but also scalable and sustainable.

Personally, my vision aligns with this mission—I am deeply committed to helping new businesses establish their brand identity, both in Turkey and internationally, while continuing to provide consulting and creative direction to entrepreneurs worldwide.

What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
The most important lesson I’ve learned along my journey is that adaptability and emotional connection are equally essential for success. The advertising and marketing industry is constantly evolving, and being able to embrace change, stay innovative, and think ahead has been crucial.

At the same time, I’ve realized that empathy and building an emotional bond with both clients and brands make all the difference. Understanding a brand’s story, vision, and challenges on a deeper level allows me to create more authentic and impactful strategies. This business isn’t just about creativity and strategy—it’s about truly feeling connected to the brands I work with and bringing their stories to life with passion.

Ultimately, I’ve seen that when you love what you do and invest emotionally in your work, it not only drives success but also makes the journey incredibly fulfilling.
