Today we’d like to introduce you to Bruno Alcantara.
Hi Bruno, so excited to have you on the platform. So, before we get into questions about your work life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today.
In 2014, I left Brazil and came to the US to study English for 3 months and ended up staying for good. I feel like it was one of the best decisions I have made. Being here has helped me to expand my mind, made me grow, and gave me amazing opportunities that have changed my life forever. I had the chance to work in events like Oscars, Emmys, do a tour with PuffDaddy, an international Tour with Madonna e become and be part of RuPaul’s DragRace. I am living my American dream. Life is delicious!
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Is anything really easy in life? I think every choice we make in life comes with a cost. The onus and the bonus. There is definitely a high cost of being far away from your family and friends and in a totally different culture, with different values. Being in a place that sometimes you feel like you don’t belong. It’s challenging, but worthy if you think is the right thing for you. And if challenges you and it’s exciting, it may be the right thing for you.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Some people may know me for being part of the many times Emmy winner show RuPaul’sDragRace as one of the PitCrew. It’s a very fun job that I have been doing for over 6 years. I love what the show stands for, and It’s amazing to be a small part of this success that entertains and brings important conversations about our reality. It’s a hit inside and outside of the LGBTQ community.
What makes you happy?
See people succeeding, people sharing love, smiling. I think love is contagious, and we need more of that. Life is challenging enough. We need more compassion and empathy. We are all in this together. Happy people make people happy!
