Conversations with Brittany Sherman

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brittany Sherman

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
17 years ago I began my career in floristry and event design the old-school way, apprenticing for a floral shop where my primary job was washing the flower buckets. I rose through the ranks of floral studios across SoCal, where I became a lead floral designer. In 2017, I began Crimson Floral Co. to commit to habitat-friendly practices that put living things first and prioritize seasonal florals, local sourcing, and ethical botanicals arranged with care & character.

I became know for color-led design and unique aesthetic rooted in my decade-plus varietals knowledge, I am inspired by America’s landscapes, arboretums, and strive to provide arrangements that are equally timeless and forward-thinking in scope.

Since I have been featured in top wedding media like The Knot and outlets like ShoutOut LA and Voyage LA. In my time as a florist, I have had the privilege to work on weddings across Orange County and the US as well as internationally in places like Lake Como, Italy, and i always look forward to hearing stories from our couples and creating expressive florals for all celebrations.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The road has been anything but smooth—just as nature’s beauty doesn’t come without its challenges. In the floral industry, you learn early that the magic people see on the surface is often built from unseen hard work and a deep respect for the process. I began my journey nearly two decades ago, starting at the bottom, washing flower buckets and sweeping floors in a small Southern California floral shop. Rising through the ranks was humbling and filled with its own trials—from long hours during peak wedding seasons to learning the art of creating arrangements that feel alive, timeless, and rooted in the land itself.

When I founded Crimson Floral Co. in 2017, the struggles shifted. We were now navigating an industry that often uses sustainability as a buzzword without genuine care for the impact on the earth. My goal was—and still is—to redefine what it means to create florals with purpose: habitat-friendly, color-led designs crafted to last in both memory and meaning. There have been seasons where the pressure to follow trends or compromise on sourcing felt immense, but staying committed to local, ethical practices and timeless design has kept me grounded. It’s never easy to carve your own path, but I’ve found that the challenges only deepen our artistry and strengthen our resolve.

Today, I’m proud to say Crimson Floral Co. isn’t just about arranging flowers. It’s about creating a botanical experience that honors the beauty of nature and the significance of the celebrations we’re invited into and has become part of the community of Orange County through philanthropy and service. The struggles have shaped us—like a garden tended through every season—and they’re a reminder that the best work often blooms from persistence, patience, and heart.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
At Crimson Floral Co., we are floral artists with a deep reverence for nature and nearly two decades of experience in the industry. Our work is about more than just arranging flowers—it’s about creating artful, habitat-friendly floral experiences that feel as alive and timeless as the moments they celebrate. Inspired by the coasts, canyons, and gardens of Southern California, we specialize in color-led, fine-art floral design for weddings and refined events.

What sets us apart is our commitment to ecological floristry. We source ethically, prioritize in-season, local florals, and steer clear of harmful practices like floral foam. Each design is created with intention, balancing artistry with responsibility to the earth. It’s floristry that’s good for living things—crafted with the kind of care and respect that only comes from experience and a true love for the medium.

We’re known for our ability to translate a couple’s ethos and vision into transforming spaces with designs that are expressive, textured, and effortlessly natural—florals that work with the venue and evoke a deep sense of place. We’re also proud to say that we’ve partnered with some of the industry’s top wedding planners, ensuring a seamless experience from concept to creation.

What I’m most proud of is our ability to remain true to our values in an industry that sometimes prioritizes trends over integrity. For us, longevity is everything—our florals aren’t just beautiful for a single day; they’re crafted to be timeless, both in memory and in meaning. Whether we’re designing for intimate garden weddings or international celebrations in places, we approach every project with artistry, intention, and a respect for the land that inspires us.

What do you like and dislike about the city?
What I love most about Orange County is its deep connection to nature, even amidst its energy and sprawl. The coasts, canyons, and gardens of Southern California are constant sources of inspiration for my work. There’s an untamed beauty here—wild bougainvillea climbing walls, eucalyptus-lined streets, and golden light that transforms the landscape daily. OC’s diversity of terrain and it’s people allows us to work with florals that feel alive, organic, and rooted in this region’s character. For a floral artist, the city is a dream, blending urban creativity with nature’s irreverence. We serve a curated menue inspired by the interior design and surrounding terrain weekly.

What I like least? It’s perhaps the challenge of balance. Amidst the concrete and growth, it’s easy to forget the importance of preserving and respecting our natural environment. The city has an undeniable beauty, but it needs care and attention to ensure that nature—our coasts, our hillsides, and the habitats that call this place home—remains protected. That’s why our work focuses so much on habitat-friendly practices. It’s our way of giving back to the land that inspires us every day.
