Conversations with Bricia Garcia

Today we’d like to introduce you to Bricia Garcia.

Hi Bricia, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Meet Bricia Garcia – Salon Owner, Educator & Visionary Behind Salon Artistry Lounge

From a young age, I was captivated by transformation — from natural to glam, from simple to radiant. I’ve always been fascinated by how beauty can make someone feel from the inside out. I still remember sneaking into my mom’s makeup bag, grabbing a pair of shears, and experimenting with my own hair — never realizing that what started as a childhood curiosity would one day become my lifelong purpose.

What began as a personal fascination turned into a calling to serve others. For over 20 years, I’ve been blessed to build a career centered around making people feel seen, confident, and beautiful. My passion has always gone beyond just creating looks — it’s about creating connection. I’ve built lasting relationships with clients who have become family, and I’ve learned that beauty isn’t just skin-deep — it’s an experience of trust, care, and transformation.

Through every season of life, I’ve learned to rise like a phoenix — stronger and more grounded in faith. My journey hasn’t been easy, but I know every challenge was part of God’s plan to prepare me for something greater. My foundation has always been faith, resilience, and gratitude.

Today, I am the proud owner of Salon Artistry Lounge, a 4,000-square-foot creative hub in the heart of Whittier, California. I took over this location in January and reimagined it as more than just a salon — it’s a space for education, collaboration, and empowerment. We host classes for artists, provide rental opportunities for educators, and open our doors for community events and charitable work.

At Salon Artistry Lounge, we believe in growing together — in artistry, in business, and in spirit. I’m passionate about helping new and seasoned stylists discover their potential, refine their craft, and find confidence in their purpose.

This industry has given me so much — not just a career, but a calling. And as I continue this journey, I’m dedicated to building spaces where creativity, faith, and community come together beautifully.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Overcoming Struggles and Finding Balance Through Faith

Looking back on my early years behind the chair, I realize that every challenge was preparing me for the leader I was meant to become. I worked under many different salon owners — some kind, some harsh — and often wondered why so few showed grace or compassion toward their team. I learned that being a strong business owner doesn’t mean you have to lose your heart. Firmness and compassion can go hand in hand when you’re grounded in faith.

When I first started out, I was often intimidated, discouraged, and unsure of where I fit. There were seasons when work went well, but my personal life felt like chaos — and other times when home was peaceful, but business was hard. I constantly prayed for balance. For many years, I lived in survival mode — working long hours just to pay bills, rarely having enough left over for family outings or vacations. I wasn’t taught about financial literacy or how to plan ahead, so I learned through struggle, mistakes, and faith.

Eventually, I surrendered everything to God and trusted Him as my provider. I learned to be content in every season — whether it was a time of abundance or a time of “rice and beans.” Through mentorship and financial education, I gained tools that changed my mindset completely. I realized I wasn’t alone — so many artists in our industry struggle silently with the same battles. That’s why I now share what I’ve learned with others, helping them find stability and purpose beyond the chair.

My journey has always been one of resilience, faith, and grace — and those lessons continue to shape the way I lead my team, my business, and my life.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
In my career, I’ve truly fallen in love with the art of transformation — especially through color. From vivid, bold hues to soft, natural balayage, I’m passionate about bringing each client’s vision to life in a way that’s tailored specifically to them. What fulfills me most is not just the transformation itself, but the moment they see themselves in the mirror and light up — that feeling of confidence and renewal is everything.

For me, the finishing and styling is just as important as the color work. I believe the details — the polish, the movement, the texture — are what make a look truly complete. Every service is about listening deeply, serving well, and making sure the client leaves feeling cared for inside and out. That’s what builds retention, loyalty, and trust — and that’s what I strive for with every guest.

What sets me apart as both an artist and business owner is my heart for service and mentorship. I’m not just focused on growing behind the chair — I’m passionate about pouring into the next generation of stylists. I want my team to see that if I can build this career from the ground up, so can they. I take pride in teaching not only technical skills, but also how to educate clients on home care, product use, and long-term hair health.

At the end of the day, my goal is to make people feel seen, confident, and valued, whether they’re a client in my chair or a stylist working beside me. My artistry may start with hair color — but it always ends with heart.

So, before we go, how can our readers or others connect or collaborate with you? How can they support you?
One thing about me — I love connecting with people. Whether it’s artists, educators, or anyone looking to collaborate, I’m always open to new opportunities. If you’re interested in working together, reach out anytime — call the salon, email me, find me on Instagram, or simply Google Salon Artistry Lounge in Whittier. However you reach me, I promise I’ll respond.

Communication is something I take pride in. I’ve always believed that strong communication builds strong relationships — it’s something a mentor once taught me: if you’re going to lead, you have to be ready to answer the call. I live by that. My team knows they can reach me 24/7, and I extend that same openness to anyone who wants to collaborate, create, or grow together.

So if you have an idea, a vision, or a project you’d love to bring to life — let’s connect and make it happen. I look forward to meeting new people and seeing where creativity takes us.
