Conversations with Bret Green

Today we’re excited to be connecting with Bret Green again. If you haven’t already, we suggest you check out our prior conversation with them here.

Bret, always such a pleasure connecting with you and thank you for sharing your stories, insights and inspiring messages with our community. We’re looking forward to getting the download and what you have been up to since our last interview, but first can you briefly introduce yourself to folks who might have missed the prior conversation.
Actor Bret Green is the creator of Dad Got Bars, a viral social media persona that blends hip-hop with millennial dad life. Through clever, relatable rap songs, he tackles everything from parenting wins and struggles to clapping back at outdated ideas of fatherhood. With millions of views and a growing fanbase—especially among moms who appreciate his non-toxic masculinity—Bret uses his platform to celebrate engaged, loving fatherhood while keeping it fun, fresh, and undeniably catchy.

Awesome, so we reached out because we wanted to hear all about what you have been up to since we last connected.
Over the past few months, Dad Got Bars has been on fire! Several songs have gone viral, racking up millions of views and sparking tons of engagement. “Pink Toes” blew up on TikTok, hitting over 1 million views and earning 40,000 new followers, with thousands of comments from people resonating with its message of positive, present fatherhood. My clap-back tracks have also been a hit—especially the ones responding to outdated parenting criticisms, like kissing my daughter on the lips and letting her paint my toenails. Each of these tracks has reached millions of views, reinforcing the idea that being a loving, engaged dad isn’t soft—it’s real masculinity.

Beyond the music, I’ve been expanding Dad Got Bars into new ventures. I’m launching custom rap songs on Etsy, starting with “Ellie Went Pee Pee on the Potty,” giving parents a fun, personalized way to celebrate their kids’ milestones. And with the momentum growing, I’m continuing to develop fresh content that’s entertaining, meaningful, and pushing back against outdated narratives of fatherhood. More bars, more impact—this is just the beginning.

We also want to give folks a chance to get to know you a bit better so we’ve prepared a fun lightning round of questions. Ready?

When you look back on your life, what are three things you expect to be proud of?
Being an incredible dad – I want my daughter and son to grow up knowing they were deeply loved, supported, and encouraged to be whoever they want to be. I want to set the bar high for what they expect from the people in their life and show her that fatherhood is about presence, not just provision.

Creating something meaningful – Whether it’s through Dad Got Bars, my music, or my business ventures, I want to leave behind work that resonates with people, challenges outdated ideas, and makes a real impact. I want to use my creativity to entertain, inspire, and start conversations that matter.

Building a life of freedom and joy – I want to look back and know I prioritized what truly mattered—family, experiences, and living life on my terms. Whether that means buying a lake house where we make lifelong memories or turning my passions into a career that supports my family, I want to be proud that I chased what made me happy instead of just what was expected.
