Today we’d like to introduce you to Brandon Villatoro.
Hi Brandon, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My name is Brandon Alexander Villatoro “Alex Bravo”, and I was born on August 11, 2002 in Los Angeles, California. Since I was a child, I’ve loved the music of the urban genre, but it was not until after graduating from high school that I began to write my own music. Being influenced by many artists and sounds, I was motivated to finally do something myself. In 2021, I released my first song “Sueño” which began my dedication to being an artist. With the support of friends and family, I continued to release more music. My dream is to have my music go worldwide and have people relate, enjoy, and connect with it on their own personal level.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Some of the obstacles I face as an independent artist is managing my time and the ability to do everything on my own. It can be rough at times when you don’t have a team, but in the end, everything has a sacrifice when chasing a dream. As I’m heading towards a year of being an independent artist I’ve learned and experienced so much already. Meeting new artists and supporters always motivates me to go harder. I am grateful to be here and blessed to have new opportunities. I thank god for a new day to be better than yesterday.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I love making music to express what I feel and create concepts people can enjoy and relate to. No matter the situation I’m in, music will always lighten me up and uplift my spirit. The love and passion seems unbreakable when you’re able to connect and enjoy the music you create. However, it can be a love and hate relationship at times. Not every time I write, I can come up with something I want. As I’m growing I’m finding new creative ways to create, write, and sing my music. I am confident that with time I will find myself as an artist.
Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
L.A. is a beautiful place where you can network and meet a lot of creative people. As I am born and raised in L.A. I can say that my time here has helped me out a lot with my music. Recently my first performance was in L.A. This happened in a open mic event that I attend every Wednesday, located in Silver Lake, Los Angeles. I am truly grateful for meeting all these new artists who are in the same position as me. The energy and the crowds I come across through these events are immaculate. There’s really nothing to hate about L.A.
