Today we’d like to introduce you to B. Dave Walters.
Hi B. Dave, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Oh wow, where to begin.
I was born in Little Rock, Arkansas during an historic blizzard.
I was a bodyguard for the rock band Evanescence, which lead to me coming to LA as a writer and actor.
I was in the right place at the right time as Geek & Sundry was taking off, and had the privilege of riding that wave.
I’m a storyteller and writer who wears a lot of hats. People probably know me best from my D&D work, like writing “A Darkened Wish” for IDW comics and running “The Black Dice Society” for Wizards of the Coast.
I’ve jumped around a bit in the entertainment world – acted as Baron Victor Temple on “Vampire the Masquerade: LA by Night,” appeared in the “Salvage Marines” TV series (which I also helped write), and developed “Into the Mother Lands” RPG.
I studied English at Morehouse College, which gave me a foundation for all this creative work. These days, I get to run immersive D&D games for clients all over the world, which is pretty wild.
Home base is LA with my family, but I’m always juggling different projects as a writer, performer, and storyteller. It’s been quite a ride!
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I’m black in America, so every step of the way has been a struggle!
But, I’m blessed beyond measure, so I’ve taken each step with grace and gratitude.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’ve had comics and graphic novels I wrote published, film and tv scripts I wrote produced, TTRPGs I wrote released, self-published novels, and more. I am in a very small group of people who’ve had success in so many different mediums; anything you can do with the written word, I’ve done.
Can you share something surprising about yourself?
I’m 6’9″ 300 lbs with black belt rankings in Shaolin Kung-Fu and Tai Chi, as well as an ordained minister!
