Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashley K
Hi Ashley, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I started singing in the church choir as a little girl. Always singing with my grandmother was something I really enjoyed as a kid. I didn`t begin taking it serious until a few years ago when i went to the studio with my cousin (FAMOUS UNO). Being in the studio became the inspiration to start my music career. I started a musical relationship with my current producer RJ FULL RANGE and began releasing music independently. Currently I perform often in and around the LA area and continue to write and release music. I`m also working on building my brand and expanding.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has not been a smooth road. Being an independent artist definitely has it challenges. Everything from family issues to financial issues and overall life just life`n has presented its share of obstacles. That combined with me as an artist sometimes getting in my own way. Learning how to balance it all and consistently progress is a constant battle. There have also been personal relationships that have slowed progress a little as well.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am an independent R&B artist and singer/ songwriter. My fans know me most for my songs dealing with issues of the heart, I also like to mix it up with fun songs, intimate songs and songs of encouragement.
I am most proud of my growth thus far as an artist, considering that I am doing it all essentially by myself. What sets me apart is I`m authentic with my music. I write about music that I’ve actually been through and that others can relate to. I also sing live when I perform that`s not so common these days.
Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
Put God first in everything that you do. Never give up even when it gets hard. Always believe in yourself. Stay dedicated and consistent, I wish I really would’ve understood how hard life would challenge you when chasing your dreams.
