Today we’d like to introduce you to Andrew Gonzalez.
Hi Andrew, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Music has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. My dad, DJ Mr. Leo, introduced me to it early on—he taught me how to mix by ear, how to read a crowd, and most importantly, how to stay true to the craft. I spent hours in his DJ studio as a kid, and by the time I was 12, I was already spinning at small parties. It just felt natural.
At some point, I stepped away from music to focus on playing soccer. But the love for sound never left. In 2013, I got inspired by artists like Eminem, but it was really $UICIDEBOY$ and Ghostemane that reignited something deeper in me. Their sound, their attitude, and their raw honesty pushed me to start producing music for myself. For years, I made tracks just for me—no pressure, no audience—just expression. That went on until 2022, when I went to my first club. The energy, the crowd, the music—it reminded me why I started in the first place. That night sparked the urge to DJ again.
Then in 2023, everything clicked. I had a moment at a nightclub where the DJ just wasn’t delivering, and I thought, “If he’s up there, I need to get serious.” I grabbed a $200 controller, practiced daily, and dove into Riddim and Dubstep. At first, I just wanted to play clubs. But everything changed when Marvin Street—coach, mentor, family man, and founder of Mayhem Events—found me on Instagram. He saw something in me and gave me a shot. During our first meeting, he told us, “To make it far in this business, you HAVE to make music.” That conversation shifted my entire mindset.
On May 26, 2024, I played my first official gig at Avalon Hollywood for Asylum. After that, I locked in and focused hard on producing EDM. In October 2024, I dropped Chrome Tears—a debut album full of after-hours techno. From there, things moved fast. I had my stage debut at Catch One on August 17, 2024, and by February 3, 2025, I released my second album, All Thrills, No Silence—a blend of uptempo, hardstyle, and techno that really defined my current sound.
Now in 2025, I’m consistently playing shows with collectives like Space Techno Events, Mayhem, and I’ve got a residency with Metabolic in the Inland Empire. I also play the underground afters like Hard Havoc, Utopia, and more. I’ve built a name in less than a year as well as launching my gymline ‘Midnight’, and while there’s still a lot ahead, I stay focused on one main goal: making sure everyone has a good time when I play.
Long term, I want to travel the world, perform at major festivals, and inspire others through both my music and my story. My journey has had twists, breaks, and unexpected turns—but it’s always led back to the same thing: passion. And thanks to my dad—my first teacher— my brother Leo for always attending my events and pushing me further, my mom for always being there for me, my little big brother, Efrain, for giving me track ideas and inspiring me to strive, my sister Celeste, for inspiring and encouraging me, my family and friends and people like Marvin who believed in me, I’ve been able to turn that passion into something real.
This is just the beginning.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. Early on, breaking into the scene was tough—especially in the Antelope Valley. No one would book me. I kept getting denied at every venue I reached out to, which was frustrating, but it just pushed me to work harder. Instead of giving up, I focused on improving my skills and finding another way in. That’s when Mayhem Events found me on Instagram, and that changed everything.
Another challenge was transitioning from hip-hop production to EDM. I had been producing hip-hop beats for nine years, but EDM was a whole different world. The sound design, structure, and overall process were completely new to me. At first, I just wanted to DJ at clubs every week, but after my first meeting with Mayhem, I was told, ‘To make it far in this business, you HAVE to make music.’ That completely shifted my mindset. I had to relearn production from the ground up while still working my day jobs and balancing life. It was a grind.
Even after landing my first big gig at Avalon Hollywood, I knew I had to keep proving myself. Nothing was handed to me. I’ve had to invest in my own equipment, put time and money into my craft, and constantly push to stand out in a competitive scene. But every struggle has been worth it, and I wouldn’t change a thing because it’s all led me to where I am now.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
In my professional life, I work across multiple roles, balancing responsibilities at a liquor store, a shipping warehouse, and an event team that handles major events like the Super Bowl and Comic Cons. Alongside these jobs, I also specialize in photography. I’m known for my upbeat attitude, respect for others, and my consistent work ethic. What sets me apart is my dedication to always pushing myself, staying professional, and ensuring I deliver quality work in everything I do, whether it’s on the job or in my personal projects.
What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
In the next 5-10 years, I see myself traveling the world, playing at major venues, and collaborating with top artists. My music production will continue to evolve, sounding smoother and more refined as I grow. I also aim to expand my clothing brand, making it a significant presence in the fashion industry.
In terms of trends, I believe my specific genre will grow, and my style of music will resonate with a dedicated audience. I want to inspire others to believe they can do it all—whether it’s music, fashion, or any other creative pursuit. For me, the sky is the limit, and I plan to push boundaries in every area I’m passionate about.
