Today we’d like to introduce you to Amanda Fuller.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
When I was nine, I went to my mother’s work party. She worked for a big industrial plant and they had many attractions for the employees and their families at their event. One of which was a fashion show. I remember sitting and watching the fashion show sparking my aspirations of a modeling career. I looked at my mom and said “mommy, I want to do that“. Soon after my mother would put me in modeling school with a local agency in Kingston Ontario Canada, where I would acquire contracts with brands such as Sears and Kmart and placed in model competitions over Canada and the US through my teenage years. When it was time to go to college in my hometown of Kingston, I left my modeling career and picked up a part-time job as a server. After a couple of years, I decided to enter the workforce full-time and take a management position at another local bar restaurant where I would soon invest and become part owner of the venue at the age of 22. By the age of 29, I sought out more than what was found in the boundaries of my small town and moved to Toronto Ontario where I would live for the next eight years. The foundations of my holistic journey began back in 2013 (in Toronto) when I modified my eating habits to plant-based vegan. Committing to 3 months to allow my body to cleanse and adapt to these newfound habits. By the third month, I began to notice the energetic and physical benefits of this new lifestyle. Being more conscious of my eating habits led to additional lifestyle changes and being more mindful of other areas of growth and how it is all interconnected. In 2017 I took a solo trip to an Eco community in Costa Rica. I embarked on a five-day fast accompanied by other healing modalities such as breath work, meditation, and yoga. Over these two primary journeys, I was able to experience just how good you can feel when balanced energetically, physically, and mentally. I felt a calling to be of service by extending my knowledge and guiding others through their own transition to a better quality of life and health.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has not always been a smooth journey as healing and growth are not linear. Change is often not an easy transition that requires courage. There will be inevitable ebbs and flows to your destination. It is a practice to learn how to navigate through and ride the waves facing any obstacles along the way. Just when I was building my future, finishing my nutrition certificate, 3 business projects I was getting ready to launch, …I fell in love.
At the beginning of the pandemic, with all of my savings, packed up my life into 10 boxes, took a big leap, and chose to move to California. At a time when we were globally in a state of change, I moved from my home, my friends, my family, and everything familiar to me for a chance at my true love story. On top of it all, the immigration process restricted me from earning income, putting my business goals on hold. Adapting to and navigating through a brand new life with brand new surroundings, new energy, and new routine, I was entering a new chapter, one that would take its own direction.
Our love story didn’t go as planned and it was time to start over yet again.
Persevering through every day, facing the challenges head-on. I strived to rebuild my life. Still adapting to a new city, in a new country, I KNEW was so very possible, it was only a matter of time. With the supporting roles of my friends and family from afar, all I had to do was show up with a positive and determined mindset.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Being a holistic lifestyle coach, I work mainly with clients to reestablish their connection with food (and themselves) through holistic nutrition coaching, deepening the mind-body connection. I offer supportive coaching programs that include detoxing the body, juice cleanses, addressing ailments, food supplementation, and fitness coaching. I am most proud of the clients I get to work with and watching them evolve through positive changes. I’m so grateful to have a fulfilling position of influence bringing joy to the lives of others while looking and feeling their best.
Encountering an array of life experiences and challenges myself, I feel that I offer an authentic approach to coaching. I have gone through the learning processes over many years so that it may be easier for others wanting to make more mindful decisions to better their health and longevity. After navigating through life changes with grace, I am not only well-educated in health and nutrition, I am well versed in the ebbs and flows of this beautiful thing we get to call life.
What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
Listen to your body. Whether it’s your intuition, instinct, emotions, or dis-ease, your body is always speaking to you. When we have clear channels within the mind and body, it allows for more clear communication. It is so easy to get a quick fix from such things as Advil when you have a headache or distractions from emotions. These simply just mask the symptoms instead of getting to the root. If we do not address these at the root cause, it can manifest into other long-standing issues. Our bodies will communicate with us, but it’s hard to hear the message with an imbalance of the mind, body, or spirit. Be kind and patient with yourself when things don’t go as planned. It is all part of the process. I like to check in with myself throughout the day. What am I feeling, where is it sourced from, and what could this be trying to teach me or show me? The more attention and love we show ourselves, the deeper connection we create.
