Conversations with Alvi Ahmed

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alvi Ahmed.

Hi Alvi, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Who is Alvi? While I spent a long time figuring it out, I came to a realization that I am who I want to be. Growing up, jumping from home to home, and city to city, made it hard to make friends and have a grounded social life. On top of that, having traditional parents that weren’t very supportive was just the cherry on top. I grew up with the feeling of pain being more familiar than I anticipated. At a certain point of my adolescent life, it was all I experienced. I just knew this fiery passion in me to help others was bound to burst and I wanted to make my own mark on the world.

Struggling with mental illnesses on a day to day basis, I knew my pain was my strength to make music a powerful outlet. I’ve been singing ever since I spat out my first couple of words as a baby. After years and years of practicing, learning tone, and perfecting different notes, I finally started creating music of my own in 2018. Soon after in 2020, I released my first debut single, “Pretty Young Thing” which was an instant hit. Everyone in my community and that I knew  loved it! That’s when it really dawned on me that this was my calling.

So who is Alvi? Alvi means peace. Alvi is a mogul for those trying to break generational curses and traditional standards. Amidst all the chaos in the world, I pray my music brings you a sense of serenity, calmness, and motivation & willpower. The calm after the storm. The peace after the storm.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Big dreams never come easy. I knew from the beginning that this was going to be a long, challenging, and intricate journey. Almost of every step of the way, you will find yourself in testing situations but nonetheless, you have no choice but to keep fighting for your dream. I spent years convincing my family and friends that this was the path for me. After countless conversations and arguments, I find myself in a much more supportive environment than before, but still end up fighting the fight to this day. I mentioned this in an interview before, risk is necessary for success and without the presence of it, normalcy is inevitable and I live strongly by it. I wouldn’t be able to get to where I am without taking the risks. The risks of following my dreams, taking the risk of abandoning my day jobs to put more time into music, the risk of moving out of LA to gain more inspiration and ideas. I’m a leap of faith type of guy, and while it may not always work out in my favor, I have my full faith with God and I know everything will align perfectly…

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
My music itself is the main thing that sets me apart from others because of its various styles of genres included in a track. I grew up listening to a lot of different styles of music. From bands like Linkin’ Park and Green Day, to famous singers like Bruno Mars and Chris Brown, even rappers such as Eminem and Snoop Dogg. I gathered inspiration from all these walks of music genres and have come to produce my own genre. I’ve learned to create a balance between the different styles of music and honed a sound that’s specific to me, but the most unique part of my music is the raw emotion you’ll experience having a listen. A lot of my melodies come off as mellow, but each track has a individualized message for the listener to catch and unravel. Due to my new unheard of cadence, I garnered attention from not only my community but slowly the city of Los Angeles. I’ve met countless talented producers, engineers, and artists on this pilgrimage that I am beyond grateful for. Five years later, I’ve dropped multiple singles, a debut collaboration album, performed for sold-out venues, featured on songs with multiple artists but this is just the beginning to an inspiring journey.

How do you think about happiness?
Happiness has always been a little tricky for me. I find myself questioning happiness, and it’s very existence. After years and years of trying to please my environment and everyone around me, I struggled to find what it means to me, but music helped change that. Knowing that I can make a change, make a difference, and potentially even save lives contributes to that. Happiness is sought after by everyone, and if I could play a part in helping my audience find theirs, that would be my ultimate accomplishment.
