Today we’d like to introduce you to Akane Millan
Hi Akane, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I was born in Los Angeles but spent the first six years of my life in Japan, which had a huge impact on my perspective and gave me a love for different cultures. I speak both Spanish and Japanese, which has allowed me to connect with people from various backgrounds throughout my life.
As time went on, I discovered my passion for acting and modeling, and I’ve been fortunate enough to explore both creatively. Along the way, I also found yoga and became a certified instructor, which sparked my deeper interest in wellness and fitness. It’s been amazing to see how these practices support my overall well-being, both physically and mentally.
I’m also really passionate about traveling and exploring new places. I love being behind the camera and creating art through photography and other creative projects. It’s all about capturing the beauty of the world and the moments that inspire me. Right now, I’m studying business and communication, focusing on improving my interpersonal skills and learning new ways to grow.
At the end of the day, I’m always looking for new opportunities to learn, grow, and challenge myself in different areas.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It hasn’t always been a smooth road, but every challenge has been a learning experience. After moving back to Los Angeles from Japan, adjusting to a new environment was tough. I started acting and modeling later on in life, and at first, it was just about trying to survive and make it work.
I’ve also volunteered full-time with churches, Greenpeace, and other nonprofits, including time spent in New York. Balancing that with pursuing a career in the arts was difficult, but it taught me a lot about resilience and finding purpose. Becoming a yoga instructor was another challenge, but it helped me grow both personally and professionally.
While the journey has had its ups and downs, each experience has shaped who I am today.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I specialize in acting, modeling, and yoga instruction, with a deep passion for wellness, fitness, and the arts. My work is a mix of creativity and discipline—I love being behind the camera, whether it’s for photoshoots or capturing the beauty of the world through my own lens.
What sets me apart is my diverse background. Having lived in both Japan and Los Angeles, I bring a unique cultural perspective to my work, which allows me to connect with people from different walks of life. I’m also bilingual in Spanish and Japanese, which has helped me navigate various projects and connect on a deeper level with a wide range of audiences.
I’m most proud of my ability to balance multiple passions—pursuing acting and modeling later in life while also staying committed to my wellness journey through yoga and volunteering. I’ve worked hard to integrate these different aspects of myself into a cohesive path, and it’s been incredibly rewarding to see how they all feed into each other.
Above all, I think what truly sets me apart is my commitment to continuous learning and growth. Whether it’s developing my interpersonal skills in business school or refining my craft as an artist, I’m always looking for ways to improve and stay inspired.
Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
My biggest piece of advice for those just starting out is to stay patient and trust the process. Success doesn’t happen overnight, and the road is rarely linear. There will be setbacks and challenges, but each one is an opportunity to learn and grow.
I also wish I had known the importance of persistence and resilience early on. When I first started out, it was easy to get discouraged, especially when things didn’t happen as quickly as I’d hoped. But perseverance is key. If you keep pushing forward, even when things feel tough, you’ll make progress, even if it’s not always visible right away.
Another piece of advice is to embrace failure as part of the journey. Every mistake is an opportunity to learn and refine your craft. And don’t be afraid to carve out your own path. There’s no one right way to succeed—your unique journey is what will set you apart.
