Conversations with Tay Jackson

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tay Jackson.

Hi Tay, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Started off in college at LSU, styling friends for parties, graduations, dinners, etc. My wife who’s a celebrity stylist then brought me on to style all of the male clients she came across. This has brought many opportunities which included professional athletes! Coming from the south to L.A., the land of opportunity, has brought on endless possibilities! I’m just touching the surface!

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Styling is definitely not all glamorous! There are many aspects to consider such as working with different people, personalities, body types, resources, finances, and budgets to bring looks together. No job is the same so these different factors can make it challenging but for me the outcome is always rewarding! Also, as a freelancer who’s job is somewhat a necessity to celebs and those who are busy but then a luxury to others, finding jobs can be tough. In addition to this, balance & filtering jobs that actually feed and showcase your creativity while staying paid can be somewhat tricky, lol.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
Owner of Classix Clothing Co. (@classix.co) a unisex apparel brand! Freelance wardrobe stylist specializing in menswear! So majority of my clients are men and dominant women! My tag and area of style is what I’m mostly known for #KeepItClassix I believe that’s what sets me apart from others because I go for classix but with a trendy twist. I am definitely proud to have not only a growing clientele but a returning clientele even during troubling times! Just being a light to others & making them feel confident in their look definitely is a highlight of the job!

If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
Growing up, I was the super smart athlete who had friends of all interests. I stood out with my tomboy ways/style of dressing and was known for having a crazy amount of kicks. Still to this day, I love doing my own thing even if it means being different. Interest wise: I was always super techy hence the engineering degree so computers, video games as well as all sports and socks/sneaker collecting.
