Conversations with Sadiyah Karimi and Ani Malkhasyan

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sadiyah Karimi and Ani Malkhasyan.

Sadiyah and Ani, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
How was Snatched LA born? “We had been working as ICU nurses for two years and as much as we enjoyed helping patients and saving lives in the hospital, we knew that we also had a passion for a field that was entirely different. Numerous hospital lunch breaks were spent on brainstorming and letting creative ideas flow of what we wanted to do together as best friends & business partners. We would specifically have “hangouts” dedicated to brainstorming and jotting ideas & plans. Ani actually bought me my very first planner that said ‘GIRL GENIUS’ on the front – it was black and gold and we started writing out all our ideas, dreams & manifestations in there. ⠀

At first, we had ideas of different treatments and different machines we wanted to have in our med spa. We had literally every procedure you could think of on our list except PDO threads. It’s funny looking back now that the one thing we specialize in and the one thing that made this dream happen was the one procedure we didn’t even have on our list to begin with (comes to prove, you can’t plan EVERYTHING).⠀

After thorough research and countless hours spent on PDO threads we instantly KNEW that it was a service we needed to provide. No one else was doing it and most importantly: doing it RIGHT. We fell in love with the idea of a cosmetic procedure that would lift and tighten the skin from within rather than the traditional routes of masking the problem. We wanted to take the medical aesthetic field by storm and we knew that we had to break into it with something that hasn’t been done before. That was our first big goal we had. We attended multiple PDO thread trainings all around the world, sometimes even in different languages where we had to get it translated. In person, webinars, seminars — you name it, we did it & still are. You can never know too much and you can never be safe enough but at the end of the day, it all comes down to your individual techniques and the understanding of beauty & symmetry in depth. You can hand 100 practitioners the same syringe of filler and every single LIP will come out different. Same concept goes with PDO Threads. Your magic is something you develop over time, experience, mistakes & successes.

With that confidence, we started at our very first tiny medical office in Glendale. It literally had one treatment chair and we would switch off with clients doing treatments. The neon pink #snatched sign we have in our lobby today is the same one we had back at our small office before we even came up with the actual business name SNATCHED LA. When clients would come in they would say “I just want that snatched look” so essentially our clients helped create the official business name and we wouldn’t have it any other way.

I remember the day we went to our accountant’s office to finalize corporation paperwork. The look on her face when we decided on “Snatched LA” was priceless. She wasn’t too pleased with the name because “it wasn’t like all the med spas.” When she handed me the Snatched LA corporation folder, she started laughing saying “you look like I just handed you magic.” Little did she know, she did. We were still working in the Glendale office when we came to pick out this new location. We built it from the ground up with every detail having so much of our heart and soul poured into it. January 6, 2020 Snatched LA was born. 🙌🏼

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
There is no such a thing as a smooth road. There is no such a thing as a smooth road. Owning your own business and being passionate about the field sounds like glitz and glamour from the outside but that’s far from the truth. When you throw medicine in the mix, things become much more complex. General rule in the cosmetic industry is “if you don’t have complications, you don’t have enough clients.” With that being said, yes we sure had instances where things didn’t turn out to be as we planned; however, true skill in cosmetic industry is not just doing the work — it’s reversing it if necessary. Truthfully, thats what gives you the confidence in the field. Complications are inevitable (to an extent) & being skilled and advanced enough to fully address & resolve the complications is what has truly built our confidence and expertise in the vast field of beauty.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
We specialize in injectables, neurotoxins, PDO threads & advanced radio-frequency treatments for the face & body. The cosmetic field is so saturated with many talented nurses & doctors that perform incredible treatments helping women & men feel more confident everyday. I believe that everyone in the industry can unanimously vote on the most rewarding aspect: That very moment when you hand your client the mirror & see the look on their face; that’s what you’re most proud of.

We are mostly known for our PDO Thread Lift treatments & Lip Rehabs.

When we started our business an entire year, we offered nothing other than PDO Threads. Factually, PDO Threads were not on ANY med-spa menu in LA/Beverly Hills locations & personally, I had been on the lookout for a place that offers it so I could get it done. It was in fact so foreign in the field that when we began to offer PDO Threads many had questions & doubts along with a long list of licensed medical professionals all around the world inquiring about our training on PDO Threads. We immediately were so booked with our PDO Thread services that from a business standpoint, it made no sense for us to even add another product on our menu since we got booked one year in advance in the first six months of business.

As busy as we were with threads, it was inevitable that we were going to offer lip fillers. In all honesty, I had been a victim of poorly done filler by a reputable practitioner for a very long time. Because I was not a fan of my results, I was hesitant to offer lip fillers. I almost felt as though I did not believe in the product so I did not want to sell it to our clients; at least not until we were confident in the fact that we could change the game entirely. So we worked towards that and we worked very hard; attended close to 20+ trainings, online webinars, seminars and truly took our time to research and experiment with a few different types of filler. At the time when we began to offer filler, KYSSE by Galderma got FDA approved in USA for lip augmentation. Having sampled the product before, we immediately knew that this was the product we needed as the last key ingredient to our lip formula.

We set strict guidelines and protocols when it comes to filling lips. For starters, we completely dissolve previously placed filler with a dissolving agent called Hylenex. After fully dissolving out the product in the lips, we then have clients come back for a second appointment to refill the lips & thats where SNATCHED LA LIP REHAB was born. Gaining so much popularity and the attention of injectors all around the world, we decided to do our first lip masterclass called THE LIP REVOLUTION coming up Summer 2021.

What set us apart in the industry was the transparency. Using social media as a powerful tool, we were able to reach so many people (clients & injectors) all over the world who truly believed in our vision. In the world of filter dysmorphia, photoshop, facetune & unrealistic expectations, we heavily focus on keeping it real: whether it comes to treatments or general knowledge about cosmetic products on the market, we love to dive into deep search & give our audience all the facts & fictions.
