Today we’d like to introduce you to Morgan Lindholm.
Hi Morgan, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Acting started by overcoming a really big fear of mine. I used to have intense stage fright. I had to confront this fear in the biggest way I could because I was becoming a perpetual recluse. I said to myself, “It was more important what I think of me than what someone else might think of me.” So, I joined the theater, threw myself at every audition I could find. The goal was just to perform on stage in front of a bunch of people because my best friend and I had this saying, “Shoot for the furthest star and you’ll land further than just the moon.” Fast forward years later, I’m excited as I eat Red Vines with the same childhood best friend and family as we watch “Truth or Dare”, featuring a 25 foot close-up of my face projected at my hometown movie theatre. Knowing, well, that millions of people will and have seen this. It was the most gratifying moment because, the last time I was in those theater seats I was a nervous teenager, afraid to speak up in front of others, let alone perform for the world. Overcoming that fear was empowering because it made me aware that, no matter what, I’ll always have that strength inside of me to grab onto when I need it most.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has absolutely not been a smooth road. However, with persistence, those feelings morphed into something that benefited me. Overcoming one fear became a catalyst to confront others, like moving to a big city such as Los Angeles on my own and managing to survive entirely independently. Any journey that seemed scary at first for me was only possible through plain old hard work and not giving up. All in all, I believe, if you’re scared of something but a part of you is saying ‘you might love it’. Go for it.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m anticipating the release of my new film, ‘My True Fairytale’. I play Sarah who goes to great lengths to feel close to her friend when the body goes missing after a horrific car crash. It is a mystery-thriller inspired by true events. In between filming, I focus on scene study class and read as many books & plays as I can. I recently finished ‘Collective Stories’ by Donald Margulies and ‘Save the Cat’ by Blake Snyder. It is a constant journey to pick up as much as I can. Sometimes it’s random, like recently, I got my boating license — Mainly so people will call me Captain Morgan. Other times it’s just learning another song on piano or guitar.
What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
Listen to your intuition.
