Conversations with Marshay Nicole

Today we’d like to introduce you to Marshay Nicole.

Hi Marshay, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I was raised in Brooklyn, New York. I began styling hair at the age of 10 as a hobby. That hobby eventually turned into my passion. By the age of 16, I was taking clients. After missing out on a few opportunities to expand my clientele because I was an unlicensed stylist, I decided to pursue cosmetology school. After winning multiple awards and competitions, I was more inspired than ever to take my talents to the next level. I landed freelance gigs working on TV sets, reality shows, and fashion week. After moving to California after my 30th birthday, I knew there was time for another “level-up”. – I sat in my kitchen and over the course of 2 years, developed and launched my very first product. Officially turning my hustle into my business.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Depends on your perspective. I like to believe that everything is a setup. The universe is always rearranging things to manifest what you’ve been praying on. The hiccups along the way definitely ALWAYS prepared me for the next stage in my life.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a licensed cosmetologist with over 15 years of behind-the-chair experience. I am passionate about making sure my clients receive the absolute best hair care possible. Styling is just half the job. I specialize in hair care, growth, retention, and hair loss. I am most proud of my growth and perseverance, I’m more concerned about other young women seeing their light through women that inspire them. I want to be that light. I am that light. WE are that light.

What are your plans for the future?
Well, Covid has forced me into isolation, which forced me to launch an entire hair care line of natural and vegan products. Next up is more products, more content, more mentorship, and a warehouse. I know, but you gotta think BIG. I’m looking forward to collaborating with other brands and expanding my business.
