Today we’d like to introduce you to Luke Crimiel.
Hi Luke, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I grew up in New Orleans, Louisiana in a musical family and surrounded by music. I started getting a feel for music at age four and started playing drums. Soon after that, I started listening to some of my favorite artists and began singing and dancing. Around 16, I found a love for musical theater and did a few productions but this ultimately lead to me leaving the church and I started to write music. I moved to Los Angeles after I finished high school to pursue music. Soon after, I released my debut album 11th street at 19.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
No, I don’t think it was a smooth road at all. Coming out to Los Angeles and me being from a small town was a really big move. I was confident in my decision, but I think any kid moving away from his family is going to go through things that make them grow and learn. I can attest to that. I also worked three different jobs before I started being an independent musician, so that grind of working constantly to try to see something come into fruition is definitely something that I will always respect.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a singer/songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and record producer. I love being on stage and performing. Being a recording artist, I have grown to love that aspect of my art, but performing live for me is my favorite thing to do. I love bringing joy to people from my music, that to me is what it’s all about and makes me happy.
What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
I can see the industry becoming totally digital. Everything online and live performances done by live streaming.
