Conversations with Jenna Katz

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jenna Katz.

Hi Jenna, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I always loved jewelry and started making and selling it when I was 12 to family and friends. After college, I started working for an established jewelry designer, managing business development and sales. I was not involved in the creative process there, so I sought out a creative outlet and started taking ancient jewelry-making classes. I fell back in love with making and designing, setting up a studio at home where I developed a style thats unique to me! The rest is history.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Making jewelry is expensive. Inherently gold and stones are valuable and it requires capital to produce. Little by little my business has grown and it has gotten easier to spend the money to make the money!

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I design and fabricate fine jewelry, specifically in 18k and 22k gold. I use precious and semi-precious stones. I am heavily influenced by ancient techniques but make modern, wearable and whimsical fine jewelry. I am proud to make jewelry – an heirloom that lasts lifetimes and gets passed down from generation to generation.

Alright, so to wrap up, is there anything else you’d like to share with us?
I love what I do. I found my passion and although it is ‘work’ it really doesn’t feel like it is!
