Conversations with the Inspiring Shannon Hall

Today we’d like to introduce you to Shannon Hall.

Shannon, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I was born and raised in sunny Los Angeles, California. Having three older sisters, I was around makeup and beauty products from an early age and growing up, I would experiment with a makeup of all types and colors. For my sixteenth birthday, my sister bought me my first tube of Benefit mascara and said, “Welcome to the world of makeup!” Needless to say, I was hooked.

The idea of practicing makeup on others as a career was daunting and never something I had seriously considered, until after countless years of encouragement from family and friends, and a few “What the hell am I doing with my life?!” conversations with myself (let’s be real, we’ve all had those), I decided to enroll at MBM Makeup Academy in Pasadena, California. Under some of the most talented young makeup artists in today’s industry, I trained in many genres including Bridal, Editorial, and more. In March of 2016, I officially became certified and ready to put my skills out into the world.

Has it been a smooth road?
There have been challenges, especially in a business as competitive as makeup artistry, but as long as I stayed true to what I was passionate about, I could get through it.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into Shannon Hall, MUA story. Tell us more about the business.
I’m a certified makeup artist based in Los Angeles, CA. Specializing in beauty and editorial looks, as well as headshots and bridal looks.

What sets me apart is my attention to detail. I am a perfectionist and my main focus is the skin and bringing out natural radiance.

For good reason, society often focuses more on the problems rather than the opportunities that exist, because the problems need to be solved. However, we’d probably also benefit from looking for and recognizing the opportunities that women are better positioned to capitalize on. Have you discovered such opportunities?
Women today are much more exposed to the talents of other women. We have social media and other opportunities to reach out to others and collaborate.
