Today we’d like to introduce you to Nicole Doherty.
Nicole, please tell us about your story.
As a working yoga teacher in 2011, my drug and alcohol addictions had taken over my life. I had a feeling of depression and malaise that was pervasive. My pain was unbearable. Nothing I was doing was fulfilling and everything felt challenging. Almost like I’d take a step forward and then several steps backwards. I knew that I had something bigger to contribute to life, but I didn’t know how to get there.
I really wanted to know “the Divine plan” that everyone was talking about. I always had a deep desire to know my souls’ purpose.
I wanted to leave all my unwanted behaviors and bad habits behind, but I was severely blocked. I wanted to get off the hamster wheel I seemed to be on.
I finally had hit my breaking point. My apartment in San Francisco burned down after a party and I was homeless. This and another failed relationship woke me up to realize that something had to change.
It was then that I got “the call”. I had two friends that owned an Ayahuasca center in Peru. They knew that I needed help and they offered their hands. On 1/1/11, I was called to into a deep spiritual healing transformation, which revealed a lot of hidden abuse and sexual trauma. It was on this path that I also understood my soul’s purpose as a healer, teacher, priestess and medicine woman.
My initiation into the Shamanic studies began in Peru in 2011 at the Temple of the Way of Light in the Shapibo tradition of the Peruvian Amazon. Since, I have been co-facilitating all types of Shamanic ritual blessings and ceremonies with my teacher Alan Waugh. I study the Pachakuti Mesa tradition founded by Master Peruvian Curandero, Don Oscar Miro Quesada. I dieted master protection plants in Peru with Don Benigno and Don Guido.
After I returned from Peru, I devoured all the energy work I could from top teachers in LA, becoming a Master Reiki Teacher + Trainer, a Transformational Breathwork facilitator and a 500-Hour YogaWorks Teacher + Trainer.
I knew it was my soul’s calling and true gift to be a teacher, leader and healer in service to humanity.
My current mission is to use all my extensive wisdom in yoga, energy work and shamanism paired with my qualities of inspiration, joy and creativity to create transformational, integrative healing and empowerment coaching programs for the awakened woman on a healing path to close the gap on her subconscious programming, unleash her priestess power and actualize her visions.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
For over 10 years, I’ve been studying, teaching and mentoring with highly respected teachers in the US and Peru. I’ve worked with thousands of students and clients over this time in their healing process.
As a survivor of abuse and sexual trauma, I’ve come to understand through my own deep healing journey that we all have very specific core wounds programs in our subconscious mind that we need to work through with attention, accountability, compassion, sincerity and love.
The emptiness, powerlessness, lack consciousness, restlessness and feelings of fear, are subconscious childhood programs that mostly happen before the age of 7.
Our primal relationships and experiences create neural imprints and patterns that get lodged in our body-mind system. The negative energy we hold affects our organs, tissues, health, energy, perception and how we live our lives.
So often, we feel a real disconnect with what we know intellectually vs. what we feel or understand in our bodies.
It’s a journey of self-reflection, compassion, forgiveness and ultimately radical self-love and care that brings us back in alignment with source.

I am a Shamanic Empowerment Coach, Shamanic Reiki Master Healer, Ceremonialist, Sound Healer, Yoga Teacher Trainer, Mother and Medicine Woman living in Los Angeles, CA.
My signature integrative healing + coaching program is called “Unleash the Priestess Within + Thrive.”
“Unleash the Priestess Within” is a highly customized 1×1 integrative online coaching and personal healing course that combines the ancient wisdom teachings of yoga, shamanism, reiki and empowerment coaching for a full body-mind-spirit transformation.
I’ve become highly adept sensitive and intuitive through this journey and thus, very skilled at customizing programs with incredibly transformational results.
Looking back on your childhood, what experiences do you feel played an important role in shaping the person you grew up to be?
Our childhood experiences absolutely shape our being and purpose. It’s a divinely perfect plan that our challenges become the gifts we teach. I love the saying that you need to go all the way through to come out the other side. Or, that you don’t know the light until you truly understand the dark. I feel like I’ve received the full spectrum of experience which makes me very compassionate and understanding.
