Conversations with the Inspiring Morgan Deeble

Today we’d like to introduce you to Morgan Deeble.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Well, I was 19 when my journey as an artist really began. I grew up on the south side of Los Angeles County, right on the Gardena/Compton city line. At that time, I was going through a rebellious phase in my life which eventually lead me to my introduction of the tattoo world. Back then it wasn’t as widely accepted, which was truly a part of the appeal to me. It was a smaller community of people who embraced being different. My curiosity turned into a passion, and the hard work that came with it just became a part of the process that I fell in love with.

Please tell us more about your work, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
My work is a product of my environment. I always find myself getting lost in the beautiful colors plastered onto the walls of back alley buildings and small store fronts. Anyone who has grown up in L.A. knows that street art and culture run deep in this city.  From an artistic perspective, I knew two things; vibrant colorful graffiti, and what’s now being identified as “west coast black and grey” tattooing. Somewhere down the line I decided to fuse the two together, bringing color into content that was originally only seen in black and grey. As a pencil artist, a lot of my work revolves around the Lowrider scene and classic cars; a culture that’s rich in history and is still very much alive. As a tattooer, I’ve found myself incorporating a lot of organic elements into my work. Flowers, plants, and animals have been a reoccurring theme for me lately. Having accessibility to both the city and nature, I love that my clients give me a wide range of freedom to artistically go from one extreme to another.

Who do you look up to? How have they inspired you?
My mother (and I’m not just saying that because she’s reading this). She raised two kids on her own, worked full time, and in the eyes of her children-she always looked beautiful while doing it. I can’t think of a time where she ever allowed the challenges of life to dictate the outcome of her circumstance. She is kind-hearted, patient, and at the same time passionate and strong-willed. This woman has been my rock throughout all of my hard times and I couldn’t be any more fortunate to have such an amazing role model in my life.
