Conversations with the Inspiring Jeanice Deeb

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jeanice Deeb.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Jeanice. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
My art creates a balance to the everyday discipline of the chaotic business world in which I thrive. There are no limits and no restrictions. I am blessed to be able to express myself freely with the wonderful medium of glass. And to share my passion with others, such as patients in hospitals, and to give back with my art through organizations such as animal rescue charities and Wounded Warrior organizations for veterans, police and firemen.

My work is contemporary, three-dimensional art. I feel blessed to create freely and passionately.” I stumbled across this fantastic medium of glass years ago while I was doing ceramics.

Wow! What a challenge to get a good shape, a strong design composition, and to fire a piece without it bubbling or cracking.

My background in Architecture and Design, and my persistence, has brought me to this level so far. I love the challenge, and there is always more to learn.

What should we know about your business? What do you do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
As mentioned earlier, my medium is glass. I strive to make 3-dimensional, functional art. This includes everything from platters, vases, candle holders, large installation pieces, etc…

I’ve done a few installation pieces at some hospitals in the area. One installation is in a cancer ward. When I see someone struggling with cancer viewing my work, I feel like I’ve accomplished something major and hope that they see calmness, playfulness, joy and hope in my work. It touches my soul and that’s why I do it. If I can affect just one patient’s mind-frame, it’s all worth it.

Being able to sell recycled glass, that I turn into functional art, and give proceeds to animal rescue, gives me great joy knowing that I am playing a part in helping living beings such as dogs and cats. As well, the US Wounded Warriors organization that I am recently associated with helps wounded veterans, police officers and firemen. I feel so blessed to be able to give back through my art. It’s very meaningful.

Looking back on your childhood, what experiences do you feel played an important role in shaping the person you grew up to be?
I always say….I’m thankful to have a good day job that helps support my art. This is due to my father, who taught me to work hard and have a career. He said that once I have that, then I can do whatever I want on the side. And that’s exactly what I’m doing now. Working my “day job”, which I love, but can be confining and restrictive with other people’s demands. Working in my studio after work or on the weekends gives me the ability to create freely on my art, which is free of rules and restrictions. My goal is to transition into being a full-time artist once I have my investments and retirement plans in place. Am grateful to have my work in art exhibitions and galleries and to give back with my art to various humanitarian causes.
