Conversations with the Inspiring Felicia Mesadieu

Today we’d like to introduce you to Felicia Mesadieu.

Felicia, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I am originally from Omaha, Nebraska. I started out as a fashion blogger in college and I majored in broadcast news in college. I always the loved beauty and fashion. I also knew that I would somehow end up on television. I just wasn’t quite sure how, I know that I didn’t want to be a news reporter, but I also didn’t know how to make my love for media, beauty and fashion a profitable career. After I graduated college, I worked in the hospitality industry while I worked on my blog and YouTube channel part-time. I knew that I wanted it to become a full-time career as it was the only thing that I was really passionate about in my free time. I would go to my 9-5 job five to six times a week but I was miserable. I knew it wasn’t the plan that God had for my life. In 2014, I knew that I had to make some major changes so I invested in new equipment and I began putting full-time energy into my YouTube channel. In 2015, I finally moved to California and I really began to work on YouTube full time. I eventually began to gain traction from all the work I put in. I am still working to achieve the vision that I have for myself, but I am very proud of how much I have achieved thus far.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
No, it has not been a smooth road. The toughest struggle that I faced is believing that the vision God gave me would manifest. I also struggled with social comparisons in my industry. I also struggled with staying consistent even when your numbers don’t grow. My advice would be to stay faithful and stay consistent regardless of what your numbers or following looks like. You have to stay consistent to grow. And you have to believe in yourself to be consistent. Believe in yourself and stay consistent no matter what. It’s going to take time so just be patient. It will pay off eventually.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into your business story. Tell us more about the business.
I am a beauty and lifestyle influencer. I create content on YouTube. I act as a guide to help women look and feel like the best versions of themselves. I am most proud that my brand is authentic and relatable. I believe what sets me apart from others is that I stay true to my mission and I don’t follow trends to gain popularity.

Do you have any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general? What has worked well for you?
I listen to podcasts from successful female entrepreneurs and I also find cyber mentors that are in my industry to help guide me along the way. I don’t know them personally but any bit of any information that gives out for free, certainly helps me navigate my journey more smoothly.
