Today we’d like to introduce you to Edrianna Terrae.
Hi Edrianna, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My platform begins briefly 2/3 years ago. I would say I had about 5k followers and I was only 15. Honestly, the way I became relevant is probably the same way a lot of people did and it was simply going viral off of a few pictures. There was a meme made about my eyes ironically and why people think “black people with colored eyes are wearing contacts” and that has been resurfacing every single year since then and has been a controversial topic for whatever reason.
I will say though that I have always wanted to be in the spotlight; I just didn’t know how and I guess that was my time. I didn’t let what I went viral for define why I was still relevant though. I really decided to use my platform to influence young girls or just women in general who look like me… or don’t. I just wanted to serve a purpose and be more than a pretty face because I have so much more to offer. I became well known for my hair growth journey and skincare eventually so with that, I started my YouTube channel and my own business and ran with it; setting the goal of making people feel good. Just like all influencers, we get hate. Instead of allowing the internet to break me, it really made me more confident and it inspired me to teach/show other women how to love themselves just as much and not let anyone’s opinions determine how they feel about themselves and who they are. Now I have accumulated over 190k followers and they’re called the Edri Nation. Same goals and motives, more lessons and experiences to share. I’m just an 18 year old young woman with a hustle, trying to make an impact and be a role model to many, old or young.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has not been that smooth of a journey for me but it has not been that rough either. Although I am not that big as others; I am still criticized for a lot of the things I do as a teenager just because people on the internet act as if we are supposed to be perfect and aren’t human too. People also feel entitled just because they have been following or watching me for a long. One of the biggest struggles though is essentially growing up on social media in a way. People forget that as we get older, our habits and our ways change. I am not a naive 15 year old anymore. I have experienced the world, relationships, broken friendships, and other things that come with life that shapes people into who they are. One of the things I still struggle with though is giving my energy to people who aren’t even worth a drop of it. A lot of trolls and people who have too many opinions formed when they only see you through screen and only know what you allow them to know.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a YouTuber and I am a Business owner. I am also a part-time college student majoring in Business Administration. I specialize in Beauty and Haircare. I try to share my knowledge about how to maintain and grow your hair, keep your skin clear, take care of your body inside and out, loving yourself in your natural state, etc. I own a cosmetics line called Edri Beauty where I sell natural products that range from lip care, skin and body care, and hair care, I am really most proud of being my own team. I am my marketing and sales team, I am my own photography and videography team, my own customer service, fulfillment team and everything else. I think what makes me different from everyone else is that I really do genuinely care about my supporters and I am not here to milk them or take advantage of them but really leave them feeling like they can learn something from me. I bring more to the table than my face. I bring class, knowledge, and most importantly love.
Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
I honestly feel like social media is always changing. My biggest platforms are Instagram and YouTube. It’s always a new trend, a new app, a new shift in something and I think eventually it will end up being less popular than it is now just because there are a lot of things that happen on these apps that these companies think are helping them but are really killing their target audience. That is why I made it my goal to build an empire that will last on and off the media.
