Today we’d like to introduce you to Cyndi Galley.
Hi Cyndi, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Ever since I was a little girl, I often dreamed of doing two things––interviewing people on-camera and being an editor for a fashion magazine. Once I found myself in the collegiate age, I was en route to University of Colorado in Boulder as a Communications Major. After being accepted into their program, I rerouted my educational goals to ministry, eventually receiving my Bachelor of Arts from Azusa Pacific University, going directly into Masters of Divinity studies, and receiving my Master’s Degree from O.R.U. (Oral Roberts University) in 2000. Although my degree took me into full-time ministry, the journalistic side of me never remained quiet––so much so that almost twenty years later, I decided to take that leap of faith, publishing a fashion magazine, Fashioned, a then digital-only magazine. We have since launched Teen Fashioned Magazine for the young girl, Grades 6 – 9. If that wasn’t enough, we just launched my web talk show, A New Thing LIVE this past October, which now airs on YouTube and Facebook. And I am now in post-production of a video series I have produced with my business partner on empowering the single woman!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Is there any such thing as a smooth road? LoL. When you’re leading something needing to be produced that involves a timeline and a team of humans, there will always be struggles. Obstacles are a part of the process and something we can learn from. For us, our struggles have involved everything from releasing a publication after our release date to OBVIOUS technical difficulties on our LIVE talk show and more. We live in an imperfect world with imperfect people. The hiccups and bumps will be there. You just hope everyone learns from them, takes note and does everything in their power to keep that same mistake from happening again!
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m currently doing the following: Running a digital magazine, Fashioned Magazine, an annual publication targeting young adult ladies, AS WELL AS Teen Fashioned Magazine, a digital and actual (hard copy) magazine for today’s young teen-aged girl. I am excited to announce I recently launched my web talk show, “A New Thing LIVE,” which airs on YouTube (LIVE) on Monday nights at 7PM PST, as well as on my personal FB page! 🙂 This has been a dream of mine for over twenty years, so to see it actually manifesting in the FLESH has been AMAZING! My team and I are also in the final stages of launching a video series + organization, serving single women of all ages–ranging from never-married to widows to divorced and/or recently-separated. Our magazine and talk show are unique in that our mission is to bring hope, healing and restoration to people of all ages through our media platforms. Anyone can be negative and bash people, but with everything going on in the world, we want to provide a fun, safe place for viewers and readers to come, be refreshed, challenged (even) and inspired!
What does success mean to you?
To me, true success is how you have impacted the lives and quality of lives of others. Are you helping people? Have you added value to their lives, depositing in them to be the best version of themselves they can be? Analytics are good and helpful, but some of what matters most may not be necessarily measured in those numbers as it’s hard to look in the hearts and minds of those we’ve helped. One can only hope that each magazine issue published, each talk show episode aired, or each Zoom class offered, reaches and touches the hearts of those on the receiving end of your media resources. Money fades. Houses and cars can be gone in the blink of an eye. But whose lives have been impacted by you and your business? What marriages have been helped and brought back to life? Who is now taking a hold of their life, with vision and momentum as a result of what we’ve put out there to empower the world? When you’ve been able to deposit hope, peace and joy into the hearts and lives of people, that––to me––is true success.
