Today we’d like to introduce you to Brandon Stewart.
Brandon, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I started my journey playing drums when I was three years old. It was an innate passion that started from watching the drummer at church. My parents fostered my talent and passion at a young age and that grew into a love for music. As I got more interested in music, I found that I loved making songs. When I was 5-6, I would spend hours on a game called Mario Paint and make beats for hours. That eventually led to me finding a random music composition program online which then led to me finding fruityloops around 2001. Around the same time Pharrell was huge, Kanye west was up and coming and I wanted to be the next them! I continued drumming and learning how to make beats and eventually ended up at Berklee in Boston for a year. When I got back to California, I gigged and produced and really was on the musician grind. Then a few years ago, I ended up falling into the Music Sync world and thats opened new doors and I’ve gotten to work on some things I didn’t think I’d be doing ten years ago!
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road! But it hasn’t been the roughest! Some of the struggles I’ve dealt with are some of the ones artists struggle with all the time. Whenever you create something, it means a lot to you, and especially these days with music, your worth isn’t always your talent or how good your music is, it’s how many likes or views. So it’s easy to feel like you aren’t doing the right thing or making quality work when you are. Also, it’s hard to make a living making music! It was a struggle being broke!
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a songwriter, artist, and producer. I specialize in all kinds of things pertaining to music creation, but more recently I’m known for writing and recording songs for tv and film syncing. I’m most proud of my continued musical growth! I think my unique blend of genres and sounds sets me apart from others!
Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
It’s a long list but mostly, my parents deserve credit for always supporting my music! My dad took me to guitar center in the 8th grade and got me pro tools (I had no idea how to use it) and a small recording set up! More recently, my work folks and my team have been helping me out! My manager Nicole, my bands Animalkingdom and Sonny Hills, my Godbro Corbin my whole village out in the IE! It’s a big support system
