Today we’d like to introduce you to Amit Apel.
Amit Apel learned from his father the collected knowledge that was passed down in his family from generation to generation. He spent his youth helping in the construction fields to designing buildings in Europe however, he always had the natural artistic desire and decided to pursue an education in Art. He founded Amit Apel Design Inc. and now incorporates his artistic vision into the residential market throughout the world!
For 20 years he’s explored materials, methods of construction, forms, color, and natural elements to really strengthen his skill while hand-picking talented individuals now known as the Apel Design Team. Today their numerous projects speckle the globe.
The team’s diverse and intense experiences show their dedication to make the client’s vision come true. Every project that stands is a translated vision stamped in time. The team continues to take on challenges and in the process shares the art of living.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I’ve designed for hundreds of clients, but I would never have thought I’d have to design my own home. At first, when I made the decision to rebuild my house after it burned in the Woolsey fire it seemed like an impossible task. It’s one thing balancing work and personal schedule but combining them really challenged not just me but my team and family to work together. As we made immense progress with the city it gave hope and vision to my neighbors that they can also keep their home and have a newly designed house. I showed many that this disaster doesn’t need to stay an unfortunate situation but can bring a new opportunity to these lives. I’ve learned at this moment that although unfortunate situations can happen unexpectedly, I have the skills that I need to overcome any challenge no matter how impossible they seem.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m a designer and artist, I’ve been focusing my designs on the architectural field, but I like to design anything that comes as a challenge. This challenge can be from anywhere on the spectrum, from a skyscraper to a product or logo that you can find in your home. I specialize in home design with successfully designing over 650 built projects within 20 years throughout the world including prestigious places like Los Angeles, Thailand, and Panama. I’m most proud of the individuals I surround myself with. With a great foundation and team, any challenge can be conquered. I approach every design the same: How can I connect people to the art of living? The building industry likes to take codes and regulations as the governing factor and then try to add some art at the time. My designs are approached as art pieces to be admired, the technical is designed around the art.
Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
I was lucky to have worked with a great team and clients that appreciate the value of art which ultimately allows me to express my custom designs on properties throughout the globe.
