Hi Yasmine, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Absolutely! So, it all started a few years ago when I struggled with my own skin issues, especially being a mom of two. Hormones, living in sunny California, and juggling daily life stressors made it tough to find products that actually worked. I was over using stuff that promised results but never delivered, so I decided to create something different.
I spent countless hours researching ingredients, testing formulas, and getting feedback from friends and family. After a lot of hard work and dedication, I launched Filtered Skin Cosmetics. One of our key products is the Cali Ultra Light sunscreen because, living in California, the sun can be really harsh on our skin. It was hard finding the perfect sunscreen that didn’t feel heavy or greasy, so I wanted to create something that provides great protection while feeling lightweight and comfortable.
Fast forward to today, and I’m so proud of how far we’ve come! Our Glass Skin Serum has become a favorite, and I love seeing how it empowers people to embrace their natural beauty. It’s been an incredible journey, and I’m excited to continue sharing my passion for skincare with all of you! Thank you for being a part of this story! 💖
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Starting a skincare business has definitely been a challenging journey. It’s a tough industry to break into, especially with so much competition out there. The costs can be overwhelming, from sourcing high-quality ingredients to packaging and marketing. Finding a cosmetic chemist who can create effective, affordable products while ensuring everything is made in the USA has been a significant hurdle.
As a mom of two boys under three, balancing my family life with the demands of launching a business has added another layer of complexity. There are days when it feels almost impossible to juggle everything, and I often find myself working late into the night after the kids are asleep.
It hasn’t been a smooth road at all. There have been plenty of struggles along the way, from navigating regulations to dealing with unexpected setbacks in production. But through it all, I’ve learned so much and have become more resilient. Each challenge has only fueled my passion for creating products that truly make a difference in people’s lives.
