Community Highlights: Meet Victoria Aguirre of PAMPA

Today we’d like to introduce you to Victoria Aguirre.

Hi victoria, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Pampa was born in 2013 from a deep love for craftsmanship, connection, and the landscapes that shape us. As a photojournalist and photographer I was traveling through remote Argentina, I was drawn to the artistry of indigenous weavers, how their textiles told stories of land, heritage, and tradition. I wanted to create a bridge between these artisans and a global audience, ensuring their work was valued and their traditions preserved. Pampa is more than a brand; it’s a collaboration with our artisans partners, a celebration of handmade craftsmanship, and a way to bring the soul of the earth into people’s homes.
Pampa is deeply rooted in authenticity, slow craftsmanship, and meaningful relationships. We don’t just source rugs, we work directly with artisans, ensuring fair trade practices and honoring the traditional techniques passed down through generations. Every piece is made by hand, one at a time, carrying the energy of the land and the artisan’s touch. Our focus on storytelling, sustainability, and connection to nature sets us apart, making each Pampa rug not just a product, but a piece of living art.
Also, it is important for you to know it is a family run business, founded by my partner Carl (Australian) and myself and three years later my brother Manuel joined, who is the person on the ground in Argentina working on logistics, exports and production. We have been operating in Australia having our HQ over there while our flagship store in Byron Bay and after 11 years we decided to also open a store in Los Angeles, in Venice Beach, this was last summer, so only 6 months ago.
You can read more about us in our website as there a lot of info there that could be useful https://pampa.com.au/pages/about-us
Our Manifesto says so much about us too https://pampa.com.au/pages/manifesto

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Not at all — and I think that’s what has made the journey meaningful. Starting and growing Pampa has been filled with passion, but also with challenges. Building a business that spans continents, time differences, languages, and cultures is never simple. We’ve faced everything from logistical hurdles in remote regions of Argentina to the emotional weight of staying true to our values, slow production, ethical partnerships, sustainability, in an often fast-paced, profit-driven world.

There were moments of doubt, moments where things didn’t go to plan, and moments where I felt overwhelmed balancing creativity with the demands of running a business. But each challenge reminded me why we started Pampa in the first place , to honor the artisans, the land, and the stories woven into each piece. The struggles shaped us. They made us more grounded, more intentional, and overall more grateful.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Pampa is a Australian homewares brand that connects people with handcrafted pieces made by artisan communities in remote Argentina. We specialize in rugs, textiles, and art created slowly and ethically using traditional techniques. We sell direct to consumer and run a trade program for a interior designers to create custom rugs for residential and hospitality projects.
What sets us apart is our deep respect for culture, craft, and nature. Each piece tells a story of place, people, and purpose. When you bring a Pampa piece into your space, you’re supporting a more intentional, soulful way of living.

Who else deserves credit in your story?
So many people have played a role in Pampa’s journey — it’s never been a solo effort. Carl, of course who Co-Founded Pampa with me, has shared the vision and believed in it from day one and brings clarity during complex decisions yet calm during stressful times. My brother Manuel, who co-owns the business and works on the ground in Argentina, is essential to making everything happen, his connection to the artisans and the land keeps us grounded. My dad has also been a huge support from the very beginning—both emotionally and strategically. His wisdom, encouragement, and belief in what we’re building have been a constant source of strength. He’s always been someone I can turn to for honest advice and perspective. Our incredible team, both in Australia, Argentina and now the USA, brings so much heart, care, and dedication into every part of the business. None of this would be possible without them. Our artisan partners are the soul of Pampa—their craft transcends time, telling stories through every weave and thread. Again and again, they remind us of the beauty of tradition, patience, folklore.
The interior designers and clients who trust us with their spaces help us grow and stay inspired. I’m also grateful for the friends and mentors who have supported us along the way. It truly takes a village — and I’m lucky to have a strong one.
