Community Highlights: Meet Tour Huncho of One Way Tour Life

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tour Huncho.

Hi Huncho, Thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I am Christian Essimbe Also known as the “Tour Huncho ”. I am an alum of the greatest HBCU in the world which is Tennessee State University. I have a passion for touring the world and here is my story.

It all started with my first flight to the U.S at the age of six. During takeoff, lightning almost struck the wing of the plane and caused it to drop almost 100 feet in 30 seconds. I was severely traumatized from that experience and I told myself I will never get on another airplane again in my life.

“A fear that turned into my passion”

After graduating from Tennessee State University in 2015, my significant other and I took a trip to the Bahamas a year later to celebrate. While in the Bahamas, I was able to plan excursions and tours through the hotel. These were great experiences, it left me wanting more but I could not figure out what that more was. Once we got back to the U.S a lightbulb clicked, when I travel, I want something deeper than experiences. I want my vacation to portray a lifestyle I can only strive for at home. As a music lover, I wanted my vacations to mimic tours. We basically created our own 12 monthly tours for trips because we had trips planned in 2016. In 2017 Tour Life was born, we decided to make it an official brand however there was still a missing piece to the name. We added ‘One Way” during our rebranding phase and became “One Way Tour Life”.

Curating multiple tours in 2016 has cultivated and honed our skills to become luxury travel planners. We have developed great negotiation skills, planning effectively and being very resourceful, and marketing has significantly grown the interest in joining our tours. We have a One Way Tour Life branded clothing line that is associated with the lifestyle, and we hope to release it soon at an international airport. Shortly after relocating to Los Angeles in 2018, we entered a pitch competition curated by Jackie Aina and her fiancé Denis Asamoah. After our pitch, I had a conversation with the marketing mogul Karen Civil which empowered me to take things to the next level.

The following year, I was later introduced to Yemi Oduwole who taught me more about the concierge business. He works with several high-profile professional NFL & NBA athletes, Lawyers, producers, and artists. He provides them with luxurious top-of-the-line villas, mansions, and exotic cars. He took me under his wing, and in a short period of time, I was able to learn the skills to start planning the concierge side of the business. I was able to meet influential individuals such as Pjkev who currently dominates the private aviation sector, Rapper King Los, FlexGod Daps who is a very well-known film director, and many more. They all realized that I was building something special and wanted to help me achieve my dream. I am truly appreciative of all the support everyone has given so far. Being inspired by my mentor and ready to utilize my new skills, in 2020 I decided to add concierge services to One Way Tour Life.

Though COVID restrictions slowed us down, we are back to planning group trips and have launched new tours already for 2021 and 2022. My passion is to make sure everyone gets a chance to experience the luxurious lifestyle. Seeing that there is a void African American luxury travel market, I am going to change that. Normalizing Black luxury is one of my dreams that I am achieving and representing that movement. African Americans spend the same amount of money like everyone else, however, we receive less than what we pay for. I want to bridge that gap and expose our community to luxurious travel and seeing the black dollar being valued.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Of course, I think anything you do or want to achieve in life will always have some tough obstacles if you truly are passionate about it. My main obstacle was trying to figure out the “how”. How am I going to build a strong portfolio of villas/mansions, yachts, and Jets rentals with the limited resources I had? Throughout the process, I received several “No’s”, however that did not stop me at all. I just found creative ways to connect with the right people that helped me get to the next level with the thought of never giving up no matter how tough things get.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
One Way Tour life is a luxury travel leisure brand that specializes in Travel Planning/hosting and Concierge. We are known for touring the world, curating trips, providing luxury vacation homes, yacht charters, experiences, and having apparel associated with the lifestyle. The brand now has access to several luxurious villas, Mansions, Yachts, and private jet charters in the following regions that we provide to our clients:
• North America
• South America
• Europe
• Africa
• South Africa
• Asia
• Oceania

In addition, private chefs/luxurious cars can also be provided upon request.

I am most proud of how far the brand came since becoming official in 2017. Starting with just a vision and watching it slowly become a reality is beautiful. Manifesting things is powerful whether you believe it or not. I believe what sets us apart from others is having the ability to dream, believe, manifest it, and remain authentic.

In conclusion:
“Don’t gain the world and forget to impact
We come in one way, and we may leave another
But inspiring is always the highest human act
You are creative on purpose for a purpose
Your legacy lives beyond death and that’s for certain
Whatever your vision, it is the world’s new creation
Because You are the next generation”
– Tour Huncho

What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
I love everything about Los Angeles except the traffic since relocating here. One thing I do like least about the city is the traffic.
