Community Highlights: Meet Tim Durkovic of The Holcomb+Durkovic Group with Douglas Elliman Real Estate

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tim Durkovic

Hi Tim, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I was born and raised in Guatemala where I lived until I was 18. I left and came to the US for college, attending the Juilliard School in NYC and USC to complete undergraduate and graduate degrees in Piano Perfomance. As a concert pianist I still perform 25-35 concerts a year. I was a college music professor for 20 years until my husband, Celebrity Photographer and Interior Designer, Mark Liddell, and I sort of fell into “flipping” our home. We’d buy one, fix it up, live in it a couple years, and then sell it. I decided to get a Broker’s License to help save some money, but ended up enjoying it so much, that I quit my teaching job cold turkey to pursue luxury residential sales full-time ALONG with continuing my performance career. That lead me to growing a real estate team (currently 5 full-time agents) and ultimately to partnering with my current business partner, Greg Holcomb. Together we bring over 30 years of experience and over half a billion in sales to the table, as well as a footprint that cover all of the LA Metro area (even though we office in Pasadena). We were currently the No. 2 Small Team for all of Douglas Elliman in California.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Life is not smooth! Obviously there have been challenges along that way – but I have been so fortunate to have amazing people that have been brought into my life that have really helped me forge my path. I think one of the biggest struggles for me when I entered the Real Estate World was not having any business background – I didn’t even know what business plan was. So, being that I was coming from a world of education, I sought out a business coach early on in my career, and still have one to help me, not only plan out business stuff, but life goals as well! I cannot recommend more how important it is to have someone like that in your life!

What matters most to you?
Integrity – I know it might sound trite, but in this business the lack of it is SO prevalent. We strive so hard to always do the right thing, even it it’s not the popular thing.

Pricing:

  • Sellers sign a listing agreement
  • Buyers sign a buyer representation agreement
  • Buyer broker fees are no longer paid by seller, so buyer need to keep that in mind
  • By law, sales fees, both on the listing and buyer side are negotiable
  • As a brokerage, we are a full-service, and full-fee brokerage
