Today we’d like to introduce you to Ti Chu.
Hi Ti, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I am a pet photographer / Founder of Animalia Ti Chu Photography based in Los Angeles. My studio services pets, their humans and pet brands. With background in professional studio commercial photography for over a decade, combined with my special connection with animals, Animalia was born in 2022. Growing up with many animals such as dogs, cats, pigs, birds, chickens… I am deeply connected to animals, especially with dogs. Animalia is much inspired by my first own dogs Mochi and beloved Taco. Mochi was a dog on euthanasia list from a high-kill shelter, I and her wife Linh rescued him just about in time. Taco was a malnourished stray dog we rescued off the street. He was covered in fleas, bone skinny and was slowly dying from starvation and exhaustion. We nursed him back to life and gave him a forever home. Taco passed away in 2019 due to cancer at the age of 12 and he had a wonderful life. In fact, I believe I was the one who was rescued by these two dogs. Recently, we added another member to our pack, Mamas, a rescued Staffy girl.
Other than servicing private clients, I routinely volunteer with our local shelters (LA Animal Services) and reputable rescues to give the adoptable pets (mostly dogs) free professional photos. Having better photos drastically increases their chances of getting adopted. Last year I helped photograph almost 500 shelter/ rescue animals, and most of them found home after. Part of my profits from Animalia Ti Chu Photography are donated to local shelters and rescues and fund my charity photo shoots. I have been receiving great support from our community for my good cause. I have always been an animal advocate since young especially dogs. My goal in business is to bring joy to people and their pets, document their special relationships and unique personality. My goal in life is to help homeless adoptable pets by shining a brighter light on them, to bring them closer to the public and give them a chance to be loved once again.
I live in Los Angeles with my wife and our two rescue dogs Mochi and Mamas.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I have been blessed with so much support from our pet community since the beginning. People see the charity work that I do for the shelter pets and they feel inspired to book private sessions with me. Once in a while, I get a comment questioning if my business only services rescue pets. The answer is no, I service all pets from all backgrounds. My purpose is to bring joy to all families from the unforgettable studio experience and life-lasting photographic memories, not to judge or discriminate on how people get their pets. My charity photo shoots are my personal project.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
My name is Ti Chu and I am a pet photographer / Founder of Animalia Ti Chu Photography based in Los Angeles. My studio services pets, their humans and pet brands. I am specialized in studio portrait photography for pets and all animals.
My most proud brand-wise is my ability to command the dogs’ attention and capture their true essence. With great patience, I make sure your pets are going to be themselves and comfortable in my studio and let their personality shine, and let the imperfect be the perfection. I have worked with all types of dogs, from shy timid to reactive and high-energy ones. I love highlighting their stories, how they came home and the unique bond between the owners and their pets.
What sets me apart from others is my charity work for animal shelters and rescues. I routinely donate photo shoots to our local shelters (LA Animal Services) and reputable rescues to give adoptable pets (mostly dogs) free professional photos. Having better photos drastically increases their chances of getting adopted. Last year I helped photograph almost 500 shelter/ rescue animals, and most of them found a home after. Part of my profits from Animalia Ti Chu Photography are donated to local shelters and rescues and fund my charity photo shoots.
When you book a private session with me, you are directly supporting my great cause of helping homeless pets find homes. My studio is located in North Hollywood. I can also do house calls and on-location special requests upon request. My current promotion for adopted pets is $50 OFF any private session in a studio.
