Community Highlights: Meet Tasha Oei of Tashop The Label

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tasha Oei.

Tasha Oei

Hi Tasha, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’m the proud owner of Tashop the label. I have always loved fashion, clothes, and dressing up (good outfit, good mood, right?) ever since I was a kid. So, instead of just dreaming up styles I loved, I decided to start my own clothing boutique of carefully curated pieces. I truly believe that having an outfit on that makes you feel confident can put you in a good mood. That concept lives on through each drop and on the company mirror seen at pop-up markets.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Tashop the label has definitely had its struggles, but what business hasn’t? Aside from navigating the unknowns of starting a small business (especially for the first time), being the source, photographer, marketer, packer, shipper, accountant and so much more as a one-woman team has taught me valuable lessons. I’ve learned to be more resilient, adaptable, and open-minded, skills that I’ll keep for a lifetime.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Tashop The Label is an Asian American, women-owned boutique that specializes in women’s clothing and accessories. We’re known for our small but unique collections – our followers have come to love our playful and beachy vibe with pieces that allow them to have fun with fashion and take chances on different styles. We also love to take our online boutique directly to the shopper at various pop-up markets across LA – meeting all of you is one of the best parts of the business! Follow us @tashopthelabel for upcoming events!

What were you like growing up?
Growing up, I was a goofy one. I had a tomboy side to me for sure – I played in the dirt, rode my bike, and did all that fun stuff – but you could also always find me in my mom’s and sisters’ closet playing dress up. I have loved fashion ever since I was a little girl and always imagined when I’d be able to build a closet of my own. Never in my wildest dreams did I think I’d own my own clothing boutique!
