Community Highlights: Meet Sweet Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sweet Story. Them and their team share their story with us below:

Our story begins back in 2019 when Sweet Story was just a dream. We are three best friends – two of us are siblings, and we share a great passion for food and connecting with people. We believe that some of the most important moments in our lives happen when there’s food involved – if it’s a celebration of a special moment or seeking comfort after something bad happened, we wanted to be there for you. And with that in mind, Sweet Story was created. When we were ready to launch, Covid hit and we had to readjust our plans – at first, that was really frustrating and we asked ourselves if that was the moment to put ourselves out there – but after losing our jobs due to the pandemic and finding great support from our community, we knew we just had to keep going. A year and a half later, we’re still here, doing what we love and having so much fun along the ride.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth ride. Having to figure out the best ways to be seen has been a challenge – as a small company, we don’t have marketing budget. The pandemic made the idea of selling to coffee shops / restaurants more difficult.

Being a home-based shop, we deal with lack of space for production and storage, as well as difficulty separating personal and work life.

It’s just the three of us, so sometimes we miss having some help.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Sweet Story?
We’re a home-based bakeshop that specializes in cookies – a lot of them stuffed. We have what we call Sweet of the Week, which is a new recipe we create every week, and it’s only sold in that period.

We only use high-quality ingredients, bake in small batches and don’t use any plastic for packaging.

We make everything from scratch, including jams and other fillings we use for our cookies.

We also make custom cakes that are created to be as delicious as they are pretty.

As creative people, we love coming up with recipes either together with our clients or based on our personal preferences.

Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
We love being in front of people by setting up Pop-Ups around town so we’re able to connect with our clients face to face.
