Community Highlights: Meet Stela Roznovan of Globe Life: Cohen-Velasquez Organization

Today we’d like to introduce you to Stela Roznovan

Hi Stela, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I was born in Eastern Europe after the fall of the Soviet Union and raised by a single mom on two
dollars a day. In 2006, at the age of 13, I migrated to the US along with my mom and my older sister. I learned English in 30 days and went on to become a classically trained concert pianist and eventually a successful business owner.

Today, I run a multimillion-dollar business in the life insurance industry. I’m an accomplished concert pianist, having performed on national and international stages since the age of 7. I’m fluent in three languages, I have a black belt in Taekwondo, and I’m an avid traveler.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Your circumstances either define you or refine you. I believe every hardship comes with a lesson if you’re willing to listen and learn. I grew up in an abusive home. My biological father was an alcoholic and had severe addition problems. He had always suffered from mental illness and in 2017, he took his own life. When I was a child, going home to him was as painful as it was frightening. And in those moments, I found my courage and my ability to persevere. What helped me through those times was maintaining a sense of humor through even the toughest moments. I used to carry a recording device with me at all times as I would record myself rehearsing for piano competitions. When my father would wake us up in the middle of the night screaming and trying to break down the door, I would record him to later use as proof when filing police reports. When I would listen back to the recordings, I would speed them up to make his shouting sound like a chipmunk and I would just laugh it off. Doing that would dissipate some of my fear and give me a sense of control over my situation.

When I moved to the US, I didn’t speak any English. I learned the language in 30 days just so I could communicate and start to make friends. I definitely got made fun of because I didn’t speak the language, but it didn’t faze me. Once you overcome an unyielding fear towards your own parent, most other challenges seem less significant.

I got into insurance sales at the age of 24 with little to no experience. As I grew my agency in the insurance space, I’ve come across many challenges most leaders and business owners face. I’ve lost teams and I’ve had many setbacks. But that was all to be expected. I realize that in business, you either learn or you earn. And if you learn, you will inevitably earn. I welcome each and every challenge because I know it carries a valuable message, which will only help me on my path.

We’ve been impressed with Globe Life: Cohen-Velasquez Organization, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I truly believe that your network is an asset. Used wisely, your network can help you solve problems greater than your current skillset to produce outstanding results. If you’re looking to grow into a new role, leverage your network to acquire new skills, knowledge, and wisdom.

As a leader, I live by this understanding. When I service clients or recruit talent to my team, I do that with the understanding that the quality of my relationships will determine the quality of my life. The richer my relationships, the richer my life.

With that said, I am a Regional Sales Director running a multimillion-dollar agency in the life and supplemental health insurance space. Most of my client base is comprised of labor union members and association members, who’ve had longstanding contracts with my company.

When I service my clients with supplemental health and life insurance products, I help them protect themselves, their families, and their assets with programs that are best suited and specifically tailored for their needs. I train my agents to do the same and provide them with the best systems and tools to provide top-notch services to our clients. This is why our clients rave about giving us 4.9 stars with almost 2,000 reviews on Google.

Before we go, is there anything else you can share with us?
