Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I am the creator and owner of Tansy! I am born and raised in Los Angeles, California. After running an IT company for more than 20 years, I decided to change careers and open my very own home decor and plant store in Burbank. Practicing on my own home for over a decade, I became a master at creating whimsical, vibrant, worldly spaces overflowing with plant life and twinkling lights. My mission is to educate on the healing nature of plants and to help others create warm homes filled with color and love.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has been a winding, bumpy, long but insanely fun and fulfilling road. With the pandemic occurring in our first year of business, things started off on a very odd foot for us here at Tansy. Eight months after opening our doors, we found ourselves scrambling to come up with a survival plan for this new business in unprecedented times. However, thanks to our incredible support system of family, friends and community, Tansy didn’t just survive, it thrived. The way the incredible people of Burbank and beyond rallied around us and other small businesses was astounding. I watched in amazement as our little family-owned plant store turned into a safe haven for those looking for a colorful, warm space to escape to.

Tansy is a family-owned and operated nursery, gift, and home goods store located in Burbank, California. We feature a wide array of hand-picked indoor and outdoor plants, succulent and floral arrangements, as well as a vast selection of gifts, art and home goods from all over the globe.
At Tansy, we nurture creativity. We believe every home should inspire joy and reflect the uniqueness within each of us. We love to help people create a magical home full of whimsical and worldly decor, vibrant colors and lush plant life.
At Tansy we love to be inspired by unique hand-made art, experience the joy of the natural world, and feel our creative energies flow. We are all about celebrating life and love!
Risk taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
I am definitely a risk-taker! Life is nothing if not a series of risks and opportunities that are our responsibility to face head-on and explore. This April, Tansy expanded! We opened the doors to our second location on April 15th in Seattle, Washington. The past year of working tirelessly on opening a second location in another state has definitely been intense and filled with doubt. What if this second location doesn’t work out? Are we moving too fast? How will Seattle take to Tansy? However, every step of the way has been filled with an equal amount of comfort and reassurance. Finding peace in uncertainty has all come down to accepting the love and positivity pouring out from tribe around me and allowing confidence to be key.
