Today we’d like to introduce you to Sarah Turner.
Hi Sarah, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’m Sarah Turner, a copywriter and copywriting mentor. I started copywriting because I was tired of investing my time in someone else’s business and not having the freedom to travel like I wanted.
People would see me post about all my traveling adventures and ask how I was able to travel so much and wondered if I even had a job. I shared in detail how I started my copywriting business to a few women. They ended up taking the steps I laid out for them, starting their own copywriting businesses, and quitting their jobs within 3 months!
That’s when I knew I had to share this process with more people. So many feel stuck in their 9-5s and are living paycheck to paycheck. They want to have the freedom to spend more time with their friends and families or travel or do whatever they want without having to ask for time off to do these things.
So, I compiled my steps and created Write Your Way to Freedom—a course that helps people find the freedom I found with copywriting. It’s grown so much over time and is now a full program that teaches you copywriting, shows you exactly what you need to do to build your business, get clients, and offers a ton of support throughout your entire copywriting career. The community we’ve grown into is amazing and is truly the best place on the internet!
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has definitely not been a smooth road.
Mindset work has been a huge factor in how I’ve been able to work through every struggle in my business and get to the next level.
I went through a transition period this year where I grew my team from 4 to 21. Obviously, when you add that many people to a team it adds significant complexity. So, we had to build out systems and make sure everything was functioning well.
But in the end, it was so worth it. In fact, it’s been the most rewarding thing I’ve done in my business thus far. I learned so much in this period, and I can’t wait to continue bringing more and more value to both my current and future students.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
I created Write Your Way to Freedom based on what’s missing in the world of courses.
I’ve taken a ton of copywriting courses and was always surprised that none of them focused on the running a business aspect of being a copywriter. This is where I see most freelancers get hung up. Not to mention, you won’t get support along the way in other courses. They usually stop support after a few weeks.
I provide my students all the support and tools they need to be successful. Write Your Way to Freedom is so much more than the coursework itself. It’s a community of writers, editors, and coaches that’s invested in our students’ success. We all help each other achieve our goals, so no one is on this journey alone.
Students get feedback on their copywriting skills and grow confidence before working with clients.
I pride myself on giving students what they need to build the business of their dreams and achieve their own version of freedom.
So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
What matters most to me is showing people that entrepreneurship is more accessible to them than ever before. So many people are realizing that the traditional 9-5 is not going to give them the life they’re looking for. No longer can you go to college and expect to get a well-paying job that helps you pay down your debts and gives you the security to grow a family.
This entire model has shifted over the last few years, and it’s taken a while for people to adjust accordingly. I want people to know that there are so many options available to them and that they don’t have to settle for less.
