Community Highlights: Meet Samantha Fishkin of Shae & Palmer

Today we’d like to introduce you to Samantha Fishkin.

Samantha Fishkin

Hi Samantha, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
First of all, thank you for having me. My background is in interior design, and I’ve always had a love for luxury fabrics, textures, and colors. When I became a mom, I struggled to find pajamas for my daughters, Ella Shae and Maddie Palmer, that were both beautifully designed and practical. Everything felt either too busy or too plain. I wanted pajamas that could be worn both inside the house and out… sleepwear that was built for comfort AND everyday life. This is what inspired me to create Shae & Palmer; a brand named after my daughters’ middle names, built on the idea that children’s sleepwear can be as thoughtfully designed as the spaces we live in. We started with small collections of bamboo pajamas, and the response has been incredible. Today, we’re in a few boutiques across Southern California & Florida, expanding into blankets and women’s styles. The goal is to build a community of families who love cozy, design-forward sleepwear.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It definitely hasn’t been a perfectly smooth road! Like most small businesses, there have been plenty of challenges – some expected and some not. Balancing motherhood, a full-time career, and building Shae & Palmer from the ground up hasn’t always been easy. From figuring out the perfect fabrics, to late night production calls, teaching myself Shopify, building a website, and learning how to run marketing campaigns – there have been countless learning curves.

To be clear, however, I would not trade a single day of this journey. Each challange has pushed me to be creative in a unique way and reminded me that growth comes from the hard parts. Watching my two daughters light up and take pride in what I’m doing makes it all worth it.

We’ve been impressed with Shae & Palmer, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
We pride ourselves on being a fashion forward sleepwear brand, and our differentiator is my passion for design. During my childhood, I would spend each summer at my grandfather’s interior design store flipping through fabric and wallpaper samples for hours, fascinated by the colors, textures, and patterns. That early exposure shaped my path and eventually led to a 15-year career in interior design, where I dedicated myself to creating beautiful, luxurious spaces.

When I became a mom, I realized children’s sleepwear was missing the well-crafted design I had always prioritized. Most options felt overly bright, busy, or lacked the thoughtful style I loved. I wanted something different, something stylish, soft, sophisticated, timeless, and still practical for little ones on the move. That’s how Shae & Palmer was born.

Our mission is simple: create beautifully designed pajamas that parents love and kids feel amazing in. Each piece is intentionally inspired by the modern design trends, elegant patterns, and soothing color palettes I alluded to earlier. We’re redefining children’s sleepwear by combining style, function, and a deep appreciation for quality design. Simply put, we want pajamas that the entire family can love.

Risk taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
Launching Shae & Palmer is by far the biggest risk I’ve taken! Stepping into an entirely new industry while balancing motherhood and a full-time career is daunting. I’ve invested time, money, and energy into something I deeply believed in without knowing if it would resonate.

I had two major factors that gave me the extra push. First, I truly believe that we are solving a need. At Shae & Palmer, we believe that parents want beautifully crafted sleepwear so that their children are looking their best at all times. And secondly, my family. I don’t know if I would’ve taken the leap if it weren’t for my amazing husband telling me, “Let’s do it! What do we have to lose?” His encouragement gave me the courage to trust myself and move forward.

Lastly, for me risk isn’t about being fearless. It’s about believing in your vision enough to keep going even when the outcome is uncertain. It’s about learning as you go, leaning on the people who support you, and understanding that real growth only comes from stepping outside your comfort zone. Every challenge has taught me something new, and every small win has made the risk worth it.

I hope you’ve found some of this insightful and are able to join me on this wonderful journey.

Thank you!
