Community Highlights: Meet Romina Manolio of Revelry Event Designers

Today we’d like to introduce you to Romina Manolio.

Hi Romina, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I was born and raised in Argentina, where I studied interior design. At 19, I made the bold decision to move to the United States completely on my own. My uncle, Edgardo Zamora, had founded an event design company and saw potential in me at a young age. So I packed my bags and moved to America on my own to join him in growing the business. That opportunity changed my life.

I started at the bottom—loading trucks, learning logistics, and understanding what happens behind-the-scenes during live event production. It was hard work, especially navigating the dynamics of a family business in a completely new country.

Over time, I found my voice not only as a designer but as a leader. I began overseeing our creative direction, expanding our design and fabrication offerings, and ultimately stepping into the role of Head Designer and CEO. Now, years later, I lead a team of incredibly talented creatives who bring bold, sophisticated ideas and designs to life—from opulent weddings and A-list premieres to immersive brand launches and private celebrations. It’s been quite the journey!

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Growth never comes without a few bumps in the road. Moving to Los Angeles on my own—without knowing the language, the culture, or a single person—was a huge leap. I lived with my uncle but navigating a new country while still growing up in a fast-paced, high-pressure industry wasn’t easy.

As anyone who works in a family-owned business can tell you, balancing professional with personal can be challenging. Learning how to balance those dynamics has been an ongoing practice for me.
2020 was especially tough. We had to shut down operations completely due to the pandemic and reinvent ourselves overnight. Around that same time, I became a mother—so while the business was transforming, I was too. Juggling all my roles—wife, friend, mother, woman, CEO, and designer—isn’t always graceful, but it’s real. My goal is always to “find the happy” in everything, even when it’s hard.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Revelry Event Designers?
Revelry Event Designers transform ordinary spaces into extraordinary event experiences. Founded by Edgardo Zamora over 27 years ago, Revelry was born out of a simple but powerful realization: there was nowhere to source high-end, design-forward rentals for luxury events. At the time, most designers were forced to rely on movie prop houses, which offered limited options and little creative flexibility. Edgardo saw the opportunity—and built a one-stop shop that would go on to redefine the event industry.

Today, Revelry is a full-scale event design, draping, furniture, lighting, and rental firm known for creating immersive environments for luxury weddings, galas, mitzvahs, film premieres, and beyond. Some people think we’re planners—but planners actually hire us to design the visual identity of the events they manage. While they focus on timelines, logistics, and vendor coordination, we focus on the transformation: event design, space planning, fabrication, delivery, furniture, lighting, draping, installation, and strike.

Our 120,000-square-foot warehouse in East Los Angeles is the creative engine behind it all. It houses full in-house departments for carpentry, sewing, painting, upholstery, lighting, and custom fabrication—staffed by over 100 talented designers, builders, and production experts. This is where the vision becomes reality—whether that means cutting and sewing eight football fields of chiffon draping or constructing a full-scale castle for a children’s birthday party.

We set up everything an event needs, and once the celebration ends, we break it all down, load it onto our trucks, and return it to our warehouse, where each piece is cleaned, inspected, and prepared for future use.
If you’re a bride planning your wedding, you wouldn’t call us to manage the guest list—but you would ask your planner to collaborate with us to design your day. From the floor plan and custom builds to lighting and lounge layouts, we’re the team behind the scenes delivering the “wow” moments guests remember—and love to post about.

If you can dream it, we can create and install it for your event.

What do you like and dislike about the city?
I love how culturally diverse Los Angeles is. You can experience the world without ever leaving the city—different languages, food, art, traditions—it’s all here. That diversity is inspiring and fuels so much creativity in what we do.

What I like least? The traffic. Always the traffic. No matter how much you plan, it finds a way to surprise you!
