Today we’d like to introduce you to Roman Keshishyan.
Roman, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
As a law school dropout, I was managing a prominent criminal defense law firm for 15+ years. My wife was a freelance artist, having obtained her BA in Art from UCLA’s prestigious and highly competitive School of the Arts and Architecture. By the way, she had done a mural within the corridors of the Department of Art, housed in the Eli and Edythe Broad Art Center on campus back in 2008; it still stands today. However, we always felt as if our respective careers weren’t fulfilling us as individuals. Personally speaking, I was working extra long hours and the excitement of when I initially started was beginning to fade. We felt as if we were stuck in our own mouse trails running about in a constant loop. To escape our redundant and tediously routine lives, we’d host gatherings with family and friends almost every weekend. We were the couple who was always cooking, grilling, serving up all sorts of innovative dishes. We’d take traditional dishes from our childhoods and put our own spin on them. Our loved ones were always joking that we were in the wrong career paths. Until one day, when we had our daughter, Vienna Luna, we realized that maybe all the joking held some sort of a prophecy. We loved cooking as a couple, we worked flawlessly together in one kitchen, we genuinely loved hosting and bringing people together through food, and perhaps most importantly it was one of the many reasons why we fell in love.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
We are firm believers that nothing in life comes easy, especially the road leading up to your dreams. And when you get there, you can’t get comfortable. You need to persistently press on and always give it your absolute all. No shortcuts, ever. This is what both of our maternal grandmothers told us in every stage of our lives. Having and raising a toddler by ourselves while homeschooling and trying to juggle a small business is challenging. Luckily, we keep each other motivated and determined. It’s also not just about the food and its quality; it’s putting in an ample amount of our time into maintaining our social media page, shooting and editing reels in between events, corresponding to emails and calls in a timely manner, et cetera. We put in some grueling hours between the two of us, but we innately love what we do and we wouldn’t have it any other way.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
We offer onsite catering services for a variety of events, including corporate gatherings, weddings, and social functions. Our services can be tailored to your specific needs and preferences. At Vienna Luna we believe that no event is the same, nor should your menu. We strive to provide high-quality food and exceptional service in order to enhance your most valued moments. We specialize in all things food! From filet mignon tacos to tomahawk steaks and branzino fish. The options are endless. All our dishes are made from scratch including every single sauce we offer.
So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
Bringing people together through the sole power of food. Breaking bread with someone fosters a different kind of human connection. It bridges differences and transcends cultural barriers. The conversations hit different, the energy resonates different, the space alone feels different. We consider ourselves in the people business serving food; food we’ve made with heart and soul in hand. And one of the many great privileges of this gig is observing from the sidelines people from all walks of life vibing as one. As Bob Marley sang, “One love, one heart, let’s join together and a-feel alright.”
