Today we’d like to introduce you to Rodney Mathews
Hi Rodney, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I was born in North Hollywood but grew up in Rancho Cucamonga, CA. Played football at Citrus College and then earned my scholarship to play at Fresno State. Grew up with a single mom who taught me everything I know and is my hero. She started her own nonprofit foster family agency eight years ago helping the kids in our community and is my biggest inspiration. Bought my first house in 2019 when I was 27 and loved the thrill of that moment which inspired me to eventually become a realtor. I was on the bachelorette and bachelor in paradise for a couple seasons then moved to LA after that experience, which then led me to meeting my girlfriend, Ari. Now I’m a real estate agent here in LA and just started a new podcast so I’m very blessed and grateful for the life I’ve built out here.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Hasn’t always been the smoothest road. Growing up with a single mom definitely came with its challenges but moms molded me into the man I am today. Playing football at a high level and tearing my ACL twice led me to learn how to take wins and losses and how to get back up when you’re down. Working in sales for almost a decade taught me how to handle rejection and be able to stay positive and motivated. Faith and positivity get me through anything and everything.
As you know, we’re big fans of Coldwell Banker. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
I’m a realtor here at Coldwell Banker Beverly Hills, however I help people all throughout Southern California focusing mostly on all of Los Angeles and the Inland Empire. I’ve tagged myself at “Real Estate Rod” and my entire focus is helping people secure their dream of home ownership. I love working with first time home buyers since I remember being in that position and just soaking in as much knowledge as I could while chasing my dream of buying a home. I want to be able to EARN my clients business with:
Expertise
Advice
Representation
Negotiation
We’re entering into a whole new world with real estate and I’m so excited to be a part of it and help people buy their dream home.
Do you any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
My favorite childhood memory was at my 5th birthday party celebration in the park and moms hired this guy to pull up dressed as Superman wearing red socks and the costume with the cape. It was easily the best day of my life as a kid and a memory I’ll never forget.
