Hi Olivia, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
A catch-up with friends turned into a deeper discussion about our broader circles and the struggles we’re all experiencing. We shared stories of friends overly stressed at work, feeling lonely, or dealing with severe anxiety or depression. I heard the same narrative over and over again — we feel stuck and alone.
The biggest takeaway was that most of our friends heavily invested in their physical health to give them a temporary release, but that same investment wasn’t going towards their mental health. As someone who practices solo meditation to deal with anxiety, I realized there wasn’t a place where mental health, physical movement, and community worked together as one. I needed to create that space.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Being an entrepreneur requires a lot of patience, which can be a challenge for eager and passionate people! I fully believed that once I built the website and I offered classes on the schedule, then floodgates would open and interested participants would come rushing in. We offer a powerful purpose and an empowering experience…what else do we need? When we launched our beta in mid-May, a very supportive yet small community was consistently engaging with Liberate, but otherwise it was crickets. I realize now that reaching that initial peak of building my company from the ground up is a huge milestone worth celebrating. That said, it’s only the beginning. I consistently show up and work hard every morning and recognize that no matter how hard I work, things take time and patience will make the process more sustainable and enjoyable. There is always another mountain to climb, but I believe the view will be worth it.

Liberate is the first mental fitness studio founded on the belief that health is multidimensional. Liberate virtual classes and courses empower individuals and teams to build skills like courage, gratitude, and resilience to strengthen collective well-being. The Liberate Method, developed with a Mental Performance Coach, blends mindful movement, journaling, conversation, and meditation to create an empowering workout for the mind. Individuals can practice the Liberate Method through our on demand library and live classes, and companies can schedule one-time or on-going mental fitness classes to combat stress and connect as a team.
What matters most to you? Why?
I love to create meaning in my own life and in the lives of others. I am passionate about self-development and mental health (my friends would say I’m addicted). I’m constantly looking for new ways to grow and improve as a person and strengthen not only my mental state but that of everyone around me too. It’s fun for me to explore new journal prompts or experimental wellness, and I always feel more confident and capable afterward.
