Natasha, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
In 2020, I had a dream that planted the seed for what would become Fans Utopia. In this dream, a friend handed me her used breast implants and told me to add them to a website. Waking up in the middle of the night, I began researching websites where adult entertainers could sell their used items. However, I quickly discovered that existing platforms were either too demanding for the talent or rife with issues like sellers disappearing with the money.

I realized that there was a gap in the market for a service that could handle everything for the talent, from curating and photographing items to managing listings and shipping. And so, Fans Utopia was born on my living room floor. My business is as if Poshmark and The Real Real had a baby in the Adult Industry.

Having no direct connections to anyone in the industry, I used the power of social media to get my first round of girls. I couldn’t advertise being an adult business and I had to start from the ground up. Girls were unsure of me at first, and I would go meet them in parking lots to pick up their items. I am truly so grateful for the girls taking a chance on my crazy idea and trusting me with their items. Because of them, word of mouth spread fast.

Our mission is to make selling used items as seamless and effortless as possible for adult entertainers. We offer virtual or in-person appointments where we go through all the items with the talent, take photos, and create their own webpage on our website. We handle promotion, manage the listings, fulfill special requests, and ship out the items worldwide to their fans.

As the company has grown, I’ve come to realize the importance of being there to support the talent. It’s incredible to see the memories and stories that are attached to these items. Each one carries a piece of the talent’s journey, and we’re proud to help them share these moments with their fans.

Fans Utopia isn’t just about selling items; it’s about empowering talent and fostering connections with their fans. We’re redefining the landscape of the adult entertainment industry, one sale at a time.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
My journey to success with Fans Utopia has been anything but smooth. For those unfamiliar with the ins and outs of owning a business, it might seem like a walk in the park when they see the owner with nice things. But the reality is far from it. I’ve been the sole funder of my company and never took on investors. This meant that every decision, every challenge, and every lesson learned was on me.

When I first started, I had to teach myself everything from using a selling platform to adding products online. I had no one to turn to for guidance or support. It was just me, researching and going with my gut. There were countless issues to tackle, from figuring out shipping and packaging to determining pricing. And let’s not forget the countless nights of stress and self-doubt, wondering if I was crazy for even attempting this.

The journey was also marked by personal sacrifices. I lost friendships because people thought I was a bad person for being involved in the adult industry. In 2023, I pushed through, fueled by the support and encouragement of my boyfriend Mark, who himself is a successful business owner. He reminded me that every business goes through growing pains and that the struggles were just a part of the journey. I truly wouldn’t be where I am with my business if it wasn’t for him and aunty Roseann. It’s scary to not only be responsible for yourself but others who work for you. When I first started, I didn’t take money to pay myself for years and still always invest as much as I can back into my business; I always made sure my employees were taken care of instead.

And then there were the logistics of growth. As the number of clients grew, I found myself in need of more space. From working on my living room floor to my garage with my bestie Amanda, I eventually took a leap of faith and got a 2000-square-foot warehouse. It was a terrifying decision, but one that I knew I had to make to keep up with demand. I would be lost without Amanda, she is a very important part of my business and because of her hard work, I gifted her a percentage of my company. You can never forget who was there for you and stuck through it all. Businesses don’t become successful with only one person, it takes a team.

But perhaps the most challenging aspect of the journey has been dealing with the talent. They are understandably cautious about who they trust to help them, and convincing them to let go of the reins and focus on growing their brand has been a constant struggle.

Despite the challenges, I’ve never been more passionate about what I do. Every day, I get to help talented individuals share their stories and connect with their fans in a meaningful way. The adult industry and fetish world have a bad wrap. I can’t advertise on social media. My posts sometimes get taken down, and there isn’t even nudity in them. It would make me feel so discouraged, and to this day, it’s still something I battle with. Spreading the word on my business online isn’t easy and I am still pushing through coming up with creative ideas to do it. But again, if it wasn’t for the performers helping spread the word, I wouldn’t be where I am today. And that, to me, it’s worth every obstacle I’ve faced along the way.

We’ve been impressed with Fans Utopia, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?

We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up.
Growing up, I was surrounded by a family that encouraged me to be always myself. As a funky and nerdy kid with a big imagination, my mother Carmen always instilled in me to dream big. One of my favorite childhood memories was spending time with my dad Joe at his auto body shop. From a young age, I was thrown into the world of business, learning the ins and outs of running an auto body shop. By the time I was 12 years old, I was writing estimates on cars, using QuickBooks, and talking to insurance companies. It was a wild childhood, and if it wasn’t for those early lessons by my parents , I wouldn’t have had the foundation I needed to build my own successful business.
