Today we’d like to introduce you to Natalie Garay.
Hi Natalie, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
At 46, I made the decision to go back to school.
After my youngest daughter graduated from high and moved away to attend college, and following a series of family members’ health crises happening in a short period of time, I made the decision to move to San Diego to become a naturopathic doctor.
As a Pilates instructor, I’ve always been interested in and curious about health and wellness, specifically the health and wellness of moms. It started with my own personal journey of navigating pregnancy, hospital bedrest, and emergency c-sections with my daughters, to navigating solo parenthood. Along with that and my 20 years of teaching Pilates to moms, I heard over and over again how their symptoms are ignored or dismissed as just part of being a mom.
While helping my family members navigate their health journeys along with the help of a Functional Medicine doctor, I learned so much about how we can support our health and well-being by finding the root cause of the symptoms that are often ignored by health professionals.
This has stirred a new passion in me to help moms feel their f*cking best and not settle for what they’ve often been told, that it’s normal or that there’s nothing to do about it.
I want to offer the tools and the roadmap to help moms feel like they did before having kids or even better than before!
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
When does life ever offer a smooth road? That’s what makes it interesting though, right? Without these interesting twists that I’ve navigated over my lifetime, I wouldn’t have gained the knowledge, experience, or life lessons that I have learned so much from that I can now share with others and hopefully save them some time and effort. Everything from my personal birth experiences, raising my three daughters solo, to navigating family members’ health journeys, It was brought me to the place in my life where I feel like I”m exactly where I should be.
As you know, we’re big fans of Natalie Says WTF. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Natalie Says WTF answers the questions so many women have about the changes they experience physically, emotionally, and energetically after having kids, no matter how long ago it was. I specialize in helping moms rehabilitate the physical systems they have acquired since pregnancy and birth, specifically pelvic floor weakness, c-section surgery, and diastasis recti (abdominal wall separation. As I go through the schooling process to become a Naturopathic Doctor, I want to be able to offer moms more information to support their hormone and brain health. I will be sharing what I learn across my social media platforms, website, and podcast. I have been working on a podcast (April 2023) and a book (December 2024), both titled, WTF Happened to My Body, How to Fix The Aftermath of Having Kids.”
